Franks Energy Drink Review - Lime:
Well this is the third Energy Drink that I have reviewed from the Franks Energy Drink lineup. I have already tried the classic and sugar free versions, so today I will give the 8.4 ounce 250 milliliter Franks Lime a try. There are 4 available flavors to try; classic, sugar free, pineapple and lime (which I am reviewing today) and they are available in 8.4 ounce (250 milliliter) and 16 ounce (500 milliliter) sizes. Initially my interest was sparked in Franks' when I heard Gene Simmons of KISS was involved. My interest peaked when I heard about the possible Gene Simmons sex scandal with the Frank's Energy Girls. Never really found out if it was true or not, but at least I got to try some new drinks! Read on for the taste and kick reviews!

Franks Energy Drink Review - Lime: Taste
This is another one of those drinks that are really easy to pinpoint the flavor. The side of the drink says "Lime" and that is pretty much what you get. I thought it would have more of a bitter taste, but it really did not. I also was not sure how the Lime flavor could be pulled off. However, Frank's seemed to do a pretty good job. There is no medicinal aftertaste at all and the flavor went down pretty smooth. Taste is subjective, but I would have to say I really enjoyed the lime flavor which I did not think I would. Taste Rating - 8.8

Franks Energy Drink Review - Lime: Kick
So they were able to pull off the lime taste, but will the 8.4 ounce can deliver a reputable punch worthy of Gene Simmons. The energy ingredients include 80 milligrams of caffeine, 1000 milligrams of taurine and a decent quantity of b-vitamins which makes it pretty comparable to Red Bull. So for a huge energy addict like me the 8.4 ounce did not quite cut it. Fortunately they have a 16 ounce version as well. So if you are a fanatic like me, opt for the 16 ounce... If you are looking for a Red Bull like kick, than the 8.4 ounce will suit you just fine. Kick Rating - 8.2

Franks Energy Drink Review - Lime: Final Judgment
Well developed flavor with a decent kick. I would like to get my hands on a 16 ounce version as a comparison, but I would assume it is just like drinking 2 8.4 ounce drinks (no shit huh!). The 16 ounce would provide enough energy for most fanatics. So... If you like a lime flavor and want a decent kick give the 16 ounce version a try. Oh yeah.... And if anyone heard what happened in the Gene Simmons scandal feel free to post in the comments... No porn links please. Final Judgment - 8.6

Jolt Energy Drink Review - Orange Blast:
Well this will be my sixth Jolt Energy Drink Review and will complete my review of all the Energy Drinks that Jolt currently has to offer. They also offer a new Jolt Wild Grape energy shot which I will review shortly. In the meantime, if this is the first review you are reading, Jolt has 6 flavors including; Orange Blast, Blue Raspberry, Power Cola, Ultra (Sugar Free), Cherry Bomb and Wild Grape. All of these flavors come in very unique "battery" style cans and are 23.5 ounces. When opened they make a loud pop which is followed by a dry ice effect (probably from the carbonation level?). If you have yet to try one, at least give it a shot, the can itself is pretty unique (until Monster started offering the same style). Each flavor has been unique so far and has performed well in the kick category, so let's see how the Jolt Orange blast does.

Jolt Energy Drink Review - Orange Blast: Taste
First off, you will be getting exactly what it says on the can.... an orange blast. A orange soda style flavor with a pretty high level of carbonation. It was fairly easy to drink, even though it was 23.5 ounces. To me this is the perfect all day energy drink because you can basically drink it all day long. Unlike many other energy drinks, there really was no medicinal aftertaste present in Orange Blast. Again, just a carbonated orange soda flavor (with plenty of energy). Taste Rating - 8.7

Jolt Energy Drink Review - Orange Blast: Kick
So the flavor is well represented on the can, but will the Energy Drink Label be well represented too? Well with a laundry list of energy ingredients including; 280 milligrams of caffeine, 2800 milligrams of taurine, 56 milligrams of guarana (natural caffeine) and a ton of b-vitamins (that is if you drink the entire 23.5 ounce can). So, yes it does have plenty of energy. However, if you do drink the entire can, you will have ingested 78grams of sugar, which is on par with the rest of the mainstream market, but in my opinion is a little much. However, Jolt does offer a sugar free version if that is what you are looking for. Kick Rating - 9.0

Jolt Energy Drink Review - Orange Blast: Final Judgment
Jolt Orange met my expectations, as did the five other flavors that they offer. The energy is there and the flavors pretty much stay true to what is listed on the side of the can. You can pick them up at most convenience stores; however, you can save a bunch of money if you buy them in bulk. $20.00 will get you a 12 pack, which means you are only paying $1.66 for 23.5 ounces. Compare that to $2.00 for a Red Bull! Final Judgment - 8.8

Amp Traction Energy Drink Review

Amp Energy Drink - Traction
Cost:$1.99
Cost Per Ounce:$0.13
Active Ingredients:Caffeine, Taurine, Guarana, Ginseng
Taste Rating:8.6
Kick Rating:8.7
Final Judgment Rating:8.7
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Amp Traction Energy Drink Review:
Well I have almost completely reviewed all of the Energy Drinks that Amp has just released. I have one more of the new flavors to review after the Amp Traction review. The new flavors include ReLaunch, Elevate and Traction (which I am reviewing today). I am glad to see Amp continue to diversify their product lineup. I know I was pleased with the last Amp Energy Drink that I reviewed, so let's see if the new 16 ounce Traction makes the cut in the taste and kick categories.

Amp Traction Energy Drink Review: Taste
Well first off the new Traction Energy Drink from Amp tells comes in a grape 16 ounce can and says "charge of grape" right on it. So I pretty much knew what I was getting in to today when I gave it my first sip. It did have a nicely carbonated grape flavor, but it was not too sweet. It was actually very similar to the Loud Pomberry Zero that I tried awhile back. The only difference between the two is that Loud used artificial sweetners and Amp used sugar. Overall the grape flavor was pretty tasty. I would of liked a little more of a juice flavor, but hey taste is subjective. Taste Rating - 8.6

Amp Traction Energy Drink Review: Kick
Well the lightly carbonated grape flavor was not too bad, but will Amp gain "Traction" in the kick category? Well there is a laundry list of energy ingredients that includes (for two servings) 296 milligrams of taurine, 248 milligrams of guarana seed extract (natural caffeine), 160 milligrams of caffeine and 34 milligrams of Panax Ginseng Extract. All those ingredients definitely gave me quite a kick in the pants, the only bad thing was that there was a slight crash associated with it (58 grams of sugar). This could be alleviated by using a sugar free version. Even with the slight crash the energy was still bountifull. Kick Rating - 8.7

Amp Traction Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
A good taste and a good kick was provided by Amp Traction. As I stated in the opening paragraph, I am glad they continue to diversify their product lineup. Hopefully in the near future they release these 3 new flavors, Traction, Relaunch and Elevate (which I will review shortly) in sugar free versions as well. Where can you get them? Well you can get them pretty much anywhere. Final Judgment - 8.7

Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Jolt Energy Drink Review - Wild Grape:
Alright so this is my fifth Energy Drinks review of the Jolt Energy Drink line up. The other reviews of the extremely large 23.5 ounce battery shaped can include; Ultra, Power Cola, Cherry Bomb and Blue. If you have never tried one, then I suggest you at least pick one up for the can alone as the 23.5 ounce can has a dry ice effect. When you crack the drink, you hear a loud pop and then you see a dry ice effect (fog like) pouring from the can. Don't get me wrong, I have been pleased with all the flavors so far, but the can definitely sets Jolt energy apart from the rest. So let's see how the fifth edition of the lineup does in the taste and kick categories!

Jolt Energy Drink Review - Wild Grape: Taste
Ever had a grape soda? Well that is pretty much what the Wild Grape from Jolt Energy tastes like. There is plenty of carbonation coupled with a pretty pleasant grape flavor. There is really no medicinal aftertaste present at all. In fact, if it did not say energy drink on the can then I doubt you would even know that you were drinking one (that and the fact that you are going to get a bigger kick from this than drinking a regular grape soda). Now, the 23.5 ounce can is a lot. In fact, even though I drink at least one if not more energy drink per day, I had a hard time finishing the entire thing. However, that is a good thing, as Jolt is resealable, so you can drink one of these the entire day at the office. Taste Rating - 8.6

Jolt Energy Drink Review - Wild Grape: Kick
Jolt pretty much uses the same energy ingredients across all their flavors. These energy ingredients include; 280 milligrams of caffeine, 2800 milligrams of taurine, 56 milligrams of guarana (natural caffeine) and a ton of b-vitamins which is pretty substantial for one sitting. Jolt might not be the best energy drink on the market, but they are pretty darn close, at least in my opinion. Kick Rating - 9.0

Jolt Energy Drink Review - Wild Grape: Final Judgment
Tons of liquid energy, 23.5 ounce to be exact. Good price, good flavor, good kick. The grape flavor makes a nice addition to the lineup. So if you have not tried one, look for the giant battery can in the nearest convenience store, or if you don't have one you can order them in bulk on their website which brings the price down to $1.66 a can. Not too shabby for 23.5 ounces! Final Judgment - 8.8

Amp Energy Drink - ReLaunch Review

Amp ReLaunch

Active Ingredients:Caffeine, Taurine, B-Vitamins, Guarana, Ginseng
Taste Rating:8.7
Kick Rating:8.7
Final Judgment Rating:8.7
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Amp Energy Drink - ReLaunch Review:
Alright the Amp Energy Drinks lineup just got a lot fuller with the addition of 3 new Energy Drinks including; ReLaunch (which I am reviewing today), Elevate and Traction. This is in addition to the original, sugar free, and overdrive Amp Energy Drinks. It's nice to see Amp diversify, so let's dig in and see what's up with the new 16 ounce ReLaunch. So first off the new Relaunch tries to revive or rehydrate you with the addition of electrolytes. Second, let's see how it performs in the taste and kick categories!

Amp Energy Drink - ReLaunch Review: Taste
So overall the drink is Orange flavored (as you can probably tell from the Orange Can). There are quite a bit of vitamins present in this drink, but I have to say it really did not hamper the orange soda flavor at all. You could taste a hint of this, albeit it was a slight medicinal aftertaste. Generally, you could compare it to a Orange Sunkist as far as flavor. I liked it and I think it makes for a nice addition to the lineup. The electrolytes also offer a nice touch, they seem to offset the carbonation level and offer a more refreshing taste. Taste Rating - 8.7

Amp Energy Drink - ReLaunch Review: Kick
So will the new Amp ReLaunch provide the kick you are looking for? Well there is a nice list of your typical energy ingredients that include; 160 milligrams of caffeine, taurine (minimal amount), guarana, b-vitamins and ginseng which pretty much puts it on par with the rest of the mainstream energy drinks like Monster and Rockstar and is pretty much the same as the other Amp flavors available. I am not sure if you can buy the "Big Rig" 24 ounce cans of this yet, if anyone knows feel free to chime in below in the comments section. So yeah, to sum up, you get a pretty decent kick from the 16 ounce ReLaunch. Kick Rating 8.7

Amp Energy Drink - ReLaunch Review: Final Judgment
Nice crisp, yet refreshing Orange flavor coupled with a pretty decent kick and a helping of electrolytes. Makes the new ReLaunch a nice addition to the Amp Energy Line up. Stay tuned for the review of the two other new flavors Elevate and Traction. Final Judgment - 8.7

5 Hour Energy Drink - Decaf

5-Hour Decaf
Cost: $2.99
Cost Per Ounce:$1.50
Active Ingredients:Caffeine (only 6mg's), B-Vitamins,
Taste Rating:8.8
Kick Rating:8.0
Final Judgment Rating:8.4
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

5 Hour Energy Drink - Decaf:
Well I have reviewed several of the 5 Hour Energy Drinks to date including, the original - both lemon and lime, as well as Extra Strength 5-Hour Energy. To date, this product lineup is one of my all time favorites out of any of the 300 + Energy Drinks that I have reviewed so far as the kick, portability and expectations of zero crash have been lifesavers on so many occasions. I was a little weary at first about the new 5-Hour Decaf, but then I remembered that caffeine is really not the only energy boosting ingredient in this Energy Shot. Besides, this is a review site, and there are countless people that have asked me for ways to get energy without a caffeine overload. So let's see if the 5-Hour Decaf can accomplish this!

5 Hour Energy Drink - Decaf: Taste
This little 2 ounce shot has zero carbs and only 4 calories and still manages to give a pretty good taste that is somewhat similar to the lemon lime version albeit with a more concentrated citrus taste. Oh yeah, did I mention there is is no medicinal taste whatsoever. The original tasted good, but removing the caffeine and some of the b-vitamins definitely helped improve the taste of the Decaf version. I bought it, gave it a little shake and then drank it at room temperature. The 2 ounces goes down quick and there was no complaints from this reviewer in the taste category. Taste Rating - 8.8

5 Hour Energy Drink - Decaf: Kick
The taste is slightly improved as some of the energy ingredients were removed, but how will this affect the kick? Well as I stated above, there is only 6 milligrams of caffeine in this shot (hence the Decaf label). The new Decaf blend also has a gentler blend of b-vitamins (niacin/b-3 removed) and amino acids when compared to the original. However, the addition of Choline, an essential nutrient to help improve information processing (brain food) is a nice touch. The other energy ingredients include: Glucuronolactone, N-Acetyl, L-Tyrosine, L-Phenylalanine, Taurine, and Malic Acid. It doesn't stop there. There is also a nice enzyme blend that consists of Protease, Lipase, Celluase, and Lactase. The kick was not as strong as the original or extra strength 5-Hour Energy, but you could definitely feel a nice little kick in the pants that I was more than pleased with. After all, not everyone in the world is looking for a huge rush of energy, some are just looking for a nice little pick me up which 5-Hour Decaf provides. I am more a fan of the original and extra strength versions, but if you are looking for a sustained boost of energy, are sensitive to caffeine, or avoid it for personal or medical reasons, than look no further. Kick Rating 8.0

5 Hour Energy Drink - Decaf: Final Judgment
I love it, the product line keeps getting more diverse! 5-Hour seems to have a little something for everyone now. Those looking for a little pick me up (Decaf), those looking for a big pick me up (original) and those energy junkies like me looking for the huge pick me up (extra strength)! When I need to cut back on my caffeine intake (yeah even I do that once in awhile) I think I will make this my new choice for staying alert. Final Judgment - 8.4
