Energy Drink Ratings Explained
Venom Low Carb Energy Drink Mojave Rattler:
Well this is by far one of the Energy Drinks that I have come across... It is also one of the ones with the coolest can. The 16.9 ounce can is very strong and quite heavy duty. Even though this drink is roughly industry standard in terms of size, the resealable cap is definitely a nice touch for those that want to save some energy for later. Low Carb Venom Mojave Rattler is made (or at least trademarked) by Dr Pepper / 7up, so as you would imagine the distribution is pretty good. There is also a regular version of this drink as well (venom Black Mamba), which I will review later. So enough with the fluff, let's see how this snake does in the taste and kick tests.
Venom Low Carb Energy Drink Mojave Rattler: Taste
No new energy flavor here, just your classic citrus / fruit flavor with a hint of apple which is initially sweet yet followed by a subtle tart bite. The tart bite is not a medicinal aftertaste, I think Mojave Rattler must have been formulated this way. Basically they took the normal Monster Energy Drink and Original Rockstar Energy flavor to another level... one without the bitter bite. Overall, it was quite pleasant, especially since it only has 50 calories and 8 carbs (albeit from sugar). So the combination of sugar and artificial sweetener did pay off for this low carb drink in the taste test. Taste Rating - 8.9
Venom Low Carb Energy Drink Mojave Rattler: Kick
So the low carb version of Mojave Rattler does the job quite well; but will it give you the bite you are looking for in the kick category as the name and slogans imply? Well the energy drink ingredients include a 3000 milligram blend of; taurine, L-Carnitine, Caffeine, Guarana (natural caffeine), Inosistol and Maltrodextrin. I am not sure of the exact caffeine levels, but with both caffeine and guarana high on the energy blend list I would guess close to 200 milligrams. Regardless, the combination of the energy blend and carbs from sugar gave a quick and pretty decent lasting kick. The low level of sugar (6 total grams) led to no crash. Kick Rating - 8.8
Venom Low Carb Energy Drink Mojave Rattler: Final Judgment
For a low carb energy drink, Mojave not only delivers a good flavor, it delivers a pretty well rounded kick that is both fast acting and pretty long lasting. The resealable nicely designed can is also a nice touch. I can't wait to try the original Venom Black Mamba to see how it does as well, so stay tuned and give this a try if you find it on the shelves. Final Judgment - 8.9

Crap is more like it. They spent all their money on the awesome can/bottle and just released a clone drink. Very unoriginal and I see no reason to switch from your usual ed to this on except for the bottle.
This drink is beyond amazing. I want to put a fridge in my room, and pack it full of Venom.
considering you are paying 5 cents per can for flimsy aluminum at least your get your recycle value back on this can.
Too bad these guys ripped off the real venom by alri. This drink is bogus!
@chris you cant say the ripped it off or its bogus. you cant compare the products ones a drink and the other is a weight loss pill. Thats like comparing if Harley Motorcycle made a bike called viper and then compared it to the dodge viper car. not possible....
Just got thru trying the venom and is does have a different taste than the other energy drinks. It has this dry/flat soda taste with a hint of apple or something, but its really not bad. Plus it was on sale and i had a coupon so it was a good value. The energy is pretty much comparable to monster or rockstar. Overall it something different to try if your tired of the same energy drinks. Good review btw.
July 2010 - I'm surprised to see that only one Venom has been reviewed. I know they're probably not the best as far as the energy drink community goes, but for a quick trip into the gas station, it's still one my favs. Of the four flavors available, I think the best and my personal fav, is the Mango Venom. There's alot of carbonation, so the first pull on this really hits you with fizz, but aftertaste is what I look for and of the four, this one has the best - a sweet mango taste. I always look for caffeine content. You really have to watch the serving size and then do the math. What you read is usually only half of what you get. The metal resealable can is a big hit, as the metal can get frosty cold and keep the drink cold to boot.
This damn drink (the regular version) is not impressive as an energy drink. Its got loads of sugar, which is what causes your energy buzz. Its got barely any B Vitamins in it, as I had to take a damn Multi Vitamin just to get the B Vitamins I needed. I admit, it tastes great, like cherry soda basically. Not quite as good as Cherry Amp but fairly decent. Its just loaded with sugar. Make cherry kool-aid and put 6 cups of sugar in a gallon of mix and you will have the same taste and a better buzz.
