Energy Drink Review
So it has come time for me to try another line of Energy Drink Mixers. I originally reviewed the full line up of Jet Set Energy Drink mixers quite some time ago and recently noticed that they have some competition coming from the Hi-Ball Energy Drink Mixers. Now I am not sure which one came out first, but since I tried Jet Set first that is what I will use as a comparison for Hi-Ball. Right off the bat you notice a difference between Jet Set and Hi-Ball as Hi-Ball comes in a 10 ounce glass bottle whereas Jet Set comes in a sleek can. Other than that let's see how Hi-Ball Lemon Lime performs in the taste and kick categories.
Energy Drink Review: Taste
Well first off this drink is meant to be an energy mixer, meaning add this to your cocktail. So I opted for a somewhat traditional drink called a brandy fizz. Normally you make this with brandy, lemon juice, club soda and a little sugar. So instead of the club soda and lemon juice I mixed in the Hi-Ball lemon lime and I have to say that it was a pretty decent substitute. Now this is by no means my normal drink, normally I will have a Seagram’s Seven, but it was not too bad. I did save a little of the lemon lime Hi-Ball to try separate from the cocktail. Pretty much tastes like a club soda with a slight hint of lemon and lime. Not really my cup of tea but for those who like club soda this would be a great substitute with a little kick. Taste is pretty similar to Jet Set. Taste Rating - 8.0
Energy Drink Review: Kick
Well the idea of an energy mixer is to spice up your cocktail with a little caffeine. That is were Hi-Ball falls a little short compared to the competition as it has 75 milligrams of caffeine in a 10 ounce serving whereas Jet Set has 120 milligrams. Don't get me wrong, the 75 milligrams of caffeine combined with taurine and guarana extract is enough to add a kick to your drink, but if you are looking for a bigger kick than I suggest trying a Jet Set. Kick Rating - 8.0
Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
The taste is pretty comparable to the competition, but Hi-Ball falls short in the kick category. Nevertheless, it still makes a nice energy mixer so if you are looking for a little something to spice up your drink that give Hi-Ball a shot. You can pick them up at Albertsons, Safeway & Whole Foods. Final Judgment - 8.0
