Amp Energy Drink Review
Before I go out for thirsty Thursday I need to get some energy, after all it was a rough day sleeping in til 10:00 and getting up to go to class at 10:10, then taking a nap. Any way after that rough day I decided to go to the 7-11 and get an Amp energy drink. The Amp energy drink is made by the people that make Mountain Dew (Pepsi). The drink comes in a normal 8.4 ounce can. Well enough B.S and onto the Amp Energy Drink review of taste and kick.
**Update: This now comes in two more sizes. The 16 ounce tallboy and the mountain dew big rig energy drink which is a whopping 24 ounces. The big rig is one enormous beverage, if you can finish it in one sitting you got some bawls!
Amp Energy Drink Review: Taste
The 120 calorie, 8.4. ounce amp energy drink tastes eerily similar to Mountain Dew with a hint of green tea. Now I love Mountain Dew but the hint of green tea tastes odd at first. However, overall I would have to say that Amp energy drink tastes pretty good for an energy beverage. The green tea taste is not over powering but
it would taste a lot better without it. So I will give the Amp drink review for taste an 8.5 out of 10.

I was quite pleased with the effects that I experienced after chugging the average sized 8.2 ounce Amp energy. It has been three hours since I finished the drink and I have plenty of energy to go out and make it til bar close. I won’t be able to tell you exactly how long this drink lasts as things might get hazy before I realize
that I have ran out of juice. So I will give the Amp energy review for kick a solid 8. I might come back and change the score if I go home early tonight, but I would not count on it.

Tastes like Mountain Dew with a hint of green tea. The green tea does not leave a horrible aftertaste but it is noticeable. I am not going to be able to give the best review for kick as I will be going out for a couple (and by couple I mean 10-12) drinks. The initial kick I got from Amp was quite good and it has lasted for
about three hours but that is the extent of me filling you in on the kick it gives you. So for the final judgment I will give it a respectable 8.5, especially since it is about $0.50 cheaper than the average drink.
Feel free to chime in with how long you feel the kick from Amp lasts if you have tried it before.

Best smelling drink? I would disagree. But the kick is not too bad for the price. Overall I would pick this beverage up in a pinch, otherwise I would stick to the more hardcore energy beverages like Cocaine!
I just love the AMP product. It really gives you a good kick but does not make you feel strange. The BIG RIG can be sipped on all night and you just keep going and going.

It tastes a lot like Mountain Dew and if you are a fan of the Dew you should like this a lot. As far as kick, it has double the caffeine of regular Mountain Dew per ounce so if you finish the Big Rig (24oz) in an hour like I just did...well you can do the math.
If you need a good energy drink with the taste of a soda we love (Dew) this is the drink for you.
i absoutly love amp i drink it everyday and buy it when i see it...i love all the sizes they have and the two flavors are great!...if you havent tried it your missing out

i love amps, thet give you lots of energy and taste really good. it kinda taste like moutan dew, so if you like that, you wikk like AMPS! they make me very hyper and energized, i drink them all the time, and when I drink them, i have way more fun and the time goes by so fast . i think AMPS are the best energy drink you can get!
I love AMP ever since they came out with the small cans,i would buy tons of them and take them to my very long wrestling meats and it would pump me up for the rest of the day...
AMP is so good that when they finally came out with the "BIG RIG" i through a party with nothing but AMP,and AMP OVERDRIVE...
I even started collecting the cans of all sizes after im done drinking them to prove to everyone that i love AMP so much...
But "BIG RIG" needs to come back!Once i found out that gas stations stoped selling that size for $2.09,i almost cried and my girlfriend was with me...
I dono about the kick but the taste takes getting used to,but once you do its pretty good.

kick, i dont know, it might be just because caffine dosnt realy have an effect on me, but the teaste is great. its mountain due mixed with a fruity taste, i didnt tast green tea in the tall boy
Grape flavor is the best, followed by Cherry and then the original. Good smell for all three of these. Haven't tasted the sugar-free one and don't plan to. Smooth drinking and does not make me shake or want to puke like Red Bull does. Really like the drinkability and long lasting energy it provides. Drank a Cherry one at 6pm last night in Bristol, TN and drove until midnight with no problem; could've went all night and was fully alert.
AMP IS FOR PUSSIES!!!
I was disappointed with the amp public relations person at the Nashville Superspeedway. The drink is fine but they may have lost me as a fan.

these are the best energy drink i have ever had and it doesn't have a green tea taste i have had three in one sitting and it doesn't have that taste.
im only 13 and i could drink a big rig like a sip of coke and not having any signs of "kick" well i might tap my foot a little but i love amp a little more than monster but its my favorite energy drink out there red jack is second. Any ways i've only seen amp regular and amp overdrive ive tried both i want to try all of them but i dont know where to get them. any ideas?

I'm not exactly sure what the hell your talking about with the green tea taste.. I've had about twelve cases alone drinking them by my self and I have to say not once has that taste come to mind, it just takes like a sweeter, tangier, mountain dew to me. The kick is not amazing but the taste GIVE IT CREDIT!@

I tried my firsat yesterday. I love Dew but to me it didn't taste like dew. have to try overdrive 2 c if it tastes like code red. I hope it does!
yes Amp is a great energy drink. My favorite though is the orange Relaunch version. Always grab one on my way into work and it gets me through till afternoon.

You guys are crazy. I'm 13 and I drank a big rig in like 10 minutes. You guys are saying is impossible. You guys are crazy. I LOVE the taste but there has been no kick. IDK Monster is for kick AMP is for taste.
Its basicly An expendsive Mountain Dew with more caffiene.. PRetty tasty.. Lots of energy just like an other MD drink.. If you don't really like energy Drinks but you want to drink them, or fit in with everyone else This is the Drink for you.. If your looking for something that gives you alot of Energy and boost, Id go with a RedLine especially if your watching your wieght..
Being allergic to artificial sweetners really puts a limit on my energy drink consumption... So glad I finally found amp.
However, there are 5 different flavors each with their own 'formula'. To really get the "kick" you need try them all and find which one is right for you. Personally, a 16oz Relaunch (orange) in the morning and a 16oz Overdrive (red) mid afternoon keeps me alert and focused through 2 full time jobs(8am - 2am).
Amp isn't as good as its brother Amp Elevate, but if you want to take it up a notch, Amp blends perfectly with vodka.
Try 1/3 vodka, 2/3 Amp. Works like a charm.

I'm sorry, but what kick are you guys talking about? I was at a Connor Oberst show in Visalia (I'm from Fresno) and I didn't have a car and didn't know where the closest gas station was, so I was forced to drink Amp rather than monster, as it was the only energy drink sold at the show.
I drank 6 of them in 25 minutes and felt absolutely no change in except for the fact that I had to pee & my hands were shaking.
It taste gross too. I recomend sticking to Monster =)
amp is my favorite energy drink but i think you should review the new lightning flavor because it is a good kick

I LOVE amp! im not even a big fan of moutain dew and amp is my favorite energy drink.Its better than monster cuz it actually tasts good insted of just giving u a kick. oh fyi my kick lasts ALL day

In my opinion, the best tasting energy drink out there. Kicks not bad but monster is better. THis is my favorite though with monster khaos not far behind
I think it works good, especially the new jr tradin paint drink. Luv dew luv amp, used to like red bull and monster, but amp is cheaper and goes down smooth.
My first energy drink was a 16 oz Amp. That day i had two. I LOVE the taste, especially the after taste. The kick to me (though energy drinks rarely have a noticeable effect on me) lasted around 3 hours, but with almost no crash at all.

amp.. my favee energy drink :) i'm really sensitive to energy drinks, so it gives me a purty nice kick. the only downside is i crashed majorly! the next one im wanting to try is amp elevate ^_^
I used to love amp, it was the best tasting and most balanced potency energy drink I've found, but now they have changed their formula, and while before I would've been a life time customer, I'm probably going to switch to coffee and they can shove their new recipe up their, well, you know. They added sucralose to the ingredients, a known carcinogenic, to save money and make it appear healthier by lowering the sugar content. I want the sugar content the same. If I didn't want the sugar I would be drinking diet amp, which tastes like crap, I WANT MY SUGAR FILLED AMP! Since all amps have the diet crap in them, simply put, they might as well all be diet amps. So while they screw up the taste and poison us, they can save a few pennies. Have fun with all the pennies you saved, because you'll never see my dollars again.
