Vitamin Water - Tropical Citrus Energy Drink Review:
Well most people don't even know that Glaceau, the makers of Vitamin Water, also make Energy Drinks. Fortunately for me I have been able to try to different flavors so far of the Vitamin Water energy line up, Fruit Punch and Dragon Fruit. Today I am going to give the 16 ounce Tropical Citrus Energy Drink from Vitamin Water a try. A little background on these energy products from Glaceau leads me to believe they are focusing on the health conscious market, which is growing larger as I type. They have a nice little tagline on their can that states "Nutrients are the new energy. The inside is natural, the outside is aluminum." At least they have a sense of humor. So enough fluff, let's see if the Tropical Citrus Vitamin Water performs as well as the others in the taste and kick categories.
Vitamin Water - Tropical Citrus Energy Drink Review: Taste
Well the tropical citrus flavor is not like any other citrus based ED that I have tried. You can taste the citrus flavoring, but it seems to be overwhelmed by the tropical ingredients instead which actually gives it a pretty solid taste. Just slightly carbonated, with a crisp taste. Not too sugary and not too watered down. Just right for this reviewer. The only thing that quirks me about this drink is that there are 200 calories and 50 grams of sugar in a 16 ounce serving. Now both seem to be below the industry standards, but for a health conscious brand, you think they could cut down on the sugar and calorie content. But hey that's just my opinion. At least it tastes good. Taste Rating - 8.7
Vitamin Water - Tropical Citrus Energy Drink Review: Kick
So the taste is pretty crisp and refreshing, but will the kick follow through? Well the Tropical Citrus Vitamin Energy has 150 milligrams of caffeine (natural caffeine), 2000 milligrams of taurine and a good sized helping of b-vitamins which gave me a pretty decent boost of energy. Now at first the 50 grams of sugar set me back, as I was thinking there was going to be a crash associated with the beverage, but for some reason it didn't happen. To sum up, a good kick but not one of the strongest on the market. Kick Rating - 8.9
Vitamin Water - Tropical Citrus Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
Another hit for Glaceau in the energy category. Crisp refreshing taste and an ample kick. I would love to see a lower calorie / lower sugar version of this drink as well, but overall I can't complain. Another good thing about this drink is that it is available pretty much everywhere, so if you decide to get addicted to it, you won't have any trouble finding it. Final Judgment - 8.8
