Vitamin Water - Dragon Fruit Energy Drink Review:
Well this is my second Vitamin Energy review and I have to say I was quite pleased with the first Glaceau Vitamin Energy flavor. Glaceau (Vitamin Water has three different flavored energy beverages; Fruit Punch (which I reviewed earlier), Dragon Fruit (which I am reviewing today) and Tropical Citrus which I will review in the future. All three flavors come in a 16 ounce can and seem to focus on the health conscious market. They also have a funny tag line on the can that states "recommended for people who have children, those trying to get pregnant or people in search of natural energy". So basically a funny alternative to the typical warnings found on most Energy Drinks. All right enough meaningless fluff, let's see how the Vitamin Water Dragon Fruit performs in the taste and kick categories.
Vitamin Water - Dragon Fruit Energy Drink Review: Taste
Well first off as the can states it has a dragon fruit flavor? Meaning.... It is basically a lighter version of a fruit punch - more sweet than sour, but a little bit bitter as well. Overall the ingredients blended quite well in the 16 ounce carbonated can. There was no hint at all of any medicinal flavoring. The taste was good but I would just like to mention that there are 200 calories in this drink, which is not what I was expecting from a health conscious brand. All 200 calories of this beverage come from carbs, sugar to be more exact. This is still below market leader Monster Energy, but I hope they come out with a low cal / sugar free version. Taste Rating - 8.9
Vitamin Water - Dragon Fruit Energy Drink Review: Kick
Good taste but a decent amount of sugar. Hopefully this won't give me a crash. The energy ingredient list includes - 150 milligrams of caffeine (natural caffeine), 2000 milligrams of taurine and a whole bunch of b-vitamins. I would also like to mention the presence of electrolytes and vitamin C as well. The kick did end up lasting several hours, even with the amount of sugar (50 grams). Maybe this was offset by the level of electrolytes??? Either way the kick was decent. Kick Rating - 8.9
Vitamin Water - Dragon Fruit Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
Good taste, decent kick. My only complaint is the level of sugar (50 grams) and calories (200) per 16 ounce serving. Come out with a low calorie / sugar free version with the same taste and the same kick and I would be all over this drink! Besides you can get this beverage pretty much anywhere. Final Judgment - 8.9
