Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Swing Juice Lemonade Energy Drink Review
Well this would be the third installment of the Swing Juice Hybrid Energy Drink Lineup that was specifically created for golfers. The previous flavors include Pink Lemonade and Fruit Punch. The one thing that both of the above reviews have in common is that the name on the drink is a pretty accurate reflection of what the drink tastes as long as you combine that with a Gatorade type flavor. What I mean is the drinks taste similar to Gatorade flavors. Now there is nothing wrong with that, especially when you take into account that it is a hybrid energy drink; meaning it has caffeine but it is also refreshing and hydrating. So enough fluff and onto the review of Swing Juice Lemonade.

Swing Juice Lemonade Energy Drink Review: Taste
What I said about the past reviews holds pretty true to the lemonade flavor as well. You can taste the lemonade flavoring, but it is not over the top sugary, it is more along the lines of a hydrating Gatorade. SO it may taste a little watered down, but that is because it is not chalked full of sugar like other energy drinks. I was more than happy with the taste as I again whipped out the Swing Juice Hybrid Energy Drink as I was rounding the turn (after 9th hole) and it more than gave me a refreshing feeling. Oh, and the lemonade taste is not too bad either! Taste Rating - 8.4

Swing Juice Lemonade Energy Drink Review: Kick
Well I have state in all previous reviews of Swing Juice that this is not the Strongest Energy Drink out there. It only has about 50 milligrams of caffeine in 16 ounces combined with Taurine, B-Vitamins and Ginseng. Don't get me wrong, you can feel the energy kick in; however, it is not over the top. Why would you want it over the top any way? Swing Juice was made specifically for golfers to improve stamina and concentration while providing energy. That's what it does. If they made Swing Juice with 300 milligrams of caffeine you would have a hard time sinking that 10 foot birdie put. But hey, it does the job. It gave me plenty of energy to finish the back nine. Kick Rating - 7.5

Swing Juice Lemonade Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
Pretty much what the bottle states. It's a cross between a Gatorade and an energy drink that is specifically formulated for golfers. It has the taste of (insert what it says on the bottle here) combined with Gatorade. Refreshing taste with a little kick to help you get through your round. Definitely on par in my book! Wired X-B12 Rush Energy Drink Review
Well I had been reviewing a new flavor ofWired Energy Drink about once every week, but lately I have been slacking and enjoying the summer. Well today I will get back on track with a review of the 16 ounce Wired XB12 Rush Energy Drink. This is just one of like 16 flavors. They also come in different sizes including 8.4, 16 and 24 ounce cans.

Wired X-B12 Rush Energy Drink Review: Taste
Well first off the taste was pretty good. The taste definitely brought back memories from my child hood but I could not pinpoint the product that I am thinking of. The smell is vaguely familiar as well. Since I can't pinpoint the taste or smell I will just let you know that it has a pretty good citrus taste to it. When I figure out what the familiar taste and smell is I will let you know. Or, if any of you users have had Wired XB12 Rush and know what I am talking about feel free to chime in with a comment. Other than the good citrus taste I can only tell you that there is no medicinal aftertaste present either. Taste Rating - 8.8

Wired X-B12 Rush Energy Drink Review: Kick
The energy ingredients in Wired X-B12 Rush include 94 milligrams of caffeine, 54 milligrams of taurine, a whole bunch of B-Vitamins including 3000% of your recommended daily intake of B-12. Yeah, that's a lot of B-12. And combined with the caffeine I definitely felt a good kick. Not one of Wired's strongest energy drinks, but it still delivered a good kick without the crash. Kick Rating 8.3

Wired X-B12 Rush Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
Well I wish I could pinpoint the taste better for you, but I can't remember it. Oh well, the citrus taste and decent kick makes Wired XB12 a pretty good candidate for an energy drink. The kick is not over the top but wil do the trick. You can order any of Wired's drinks online for about $36 - $48 shipped to your door, depending on which size you get (16 or 145 ounces). Pretty decent price and worth a look. If you don't like the citrus flavor read the other Wired Reviews or visit their site and take a look at the 16 or so flavors they offer. You should be able to find something you like.

Vixen Fox Punch Sugar Free Energy Drink Review

Vixen Fox Punch Sugar Free

Cost Per Ounce:$0.14
Active Ingredients:Caffeine, Guarana, B-Vitamins, Ginseng, Taurine
Taste Rating:9.0
Kick Rating:8.8
Final Judgment Rating:9.0
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Vixen Fox Punch Sugar Free Energy Drink Review
Well today I get the opportunity to review an Energy Drink marketed towards women (which is not the box I will be checking when the next U.S Census comes out). That's right the whole Vixen Energy Drink lineup is made for and marketed to women by Fluid Motion Beverage which also makes the Talon Energy Drink. Both are exclusive to Circle K convenience stores. So what makes this drink different than the normal energy drinks? Not really sure, it is sugar free, but besides that and the design of the can I am not sure what makes it different. Anyways onto the review of the Vixen Fox Punch Sugar Free Energy Drink made for women.

Vixen Fox Punch Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Taste
Well as soon as I had my first sip I realized that the taste was very similar to the Talon Blood Punch energy drink which is made by the same company (Fluid Motion Beverage). It tastes pretty much identical with the delicious fruit punch flavor. Now the only difference seems to be that Vixen Fox Punch is sugar free. Even being sugar free the taste is still very good. Now Fluid Motion needs to do the same for their Men's lineup by adding a Sugar Free Blood Punch! Taste Rating - 9.0

Vixen Fox Punch Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Kick
It has a great sugar free fruit punch taste, but how will it perform in the kick category? Well it packs 174 milligrams of caffeine, 100 milligrams of Guarana, 200 milligrams of Panax Ginseng, 2000 milligrams of taurine and a bunch of B-Vitamins into 16 ounces. Definitely enough to keep this 185 pound man going, so I am assuming it will have the same effect, if not a bigger effect on it's target audience. Either way it delivers what it promises. Kick Rating 8.8

Vixen Fox Punch Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
So it has a strong kick, a great fruit punch taste and it's sugar free meaning no calories. Now don't get me wrong I enjoyed the Talon Blood Punch Energy Drink, but why do I have to have all those calories when an almost identical drink is out there? Just because I am a dude doesn't mean I don't watch my calorie intake. Fluid Motion should release a sugar free version of Blood Punch. Sorry about the rant. Anyways Vixen Fox punch was an all around great drink. Final Judgment - 9.0

Dark Dog Sugar Free Energy Drink Review

Sugar Free Dark Dog

Cost: $
Cost Per Ounce:$
Active Ingredients:Caffeine, Taurine, B-Vitamins, Guarana
Taste Rating:7.7
Kick Rating:8.0
Final Judgment Rating:7.8
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Dark Dog Sugar Free Energy Drink Review
A couple month's ago I got the opportunity to review the original Dark Dog Energy Drink. Today I will give the sugar free Dark Dog a try. Before we get to the review here is a little background. Dark Dog was originally developed and tested in Norway but is now available in over 25 countries and they look to be expanding. Dark Dog comes in a collectible aluminum bottle as well as a 11 ounce, 1 liter and 1.5 liter plastic bottle. There flavor arsenal includes lemon and orange flavors as well as a sugar free version of the original Energy Drink which I am going to review now.

Dark Dog Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Taste
Well the original Dark Dog tasted quite similar to Redbull so I was expecting the sugar free version to taste like a Redbull Sugar Free. Although my assumption was somewhat correct there was a difference in taste. The Sugar Free Dark Dog has somewhat of a watered down taste so there was little citrus taste to it at all. However, as with the original Dark Dog, the sugar free version improved drastically on the medicinal after taste of Red Bull. I was pleased with that but a little disapointed at the lack of overall taste. Taste Rating - 7.7

Dark Dog Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Kick
The energy ingredients include Guarana, Caffeine, Taurine and B-Vitamins making Dark Dog sugar free again very similar to Red Bull. They even have the same caffeine content (80 milligrams per 250 milliliters). So the kick is on par with Red Bull, but that is nothing to really brag about. Neither Dark Dog or Red Bull come close to making the list of Strongest Energy Drinks. However, not everyone is looking for enough energy to take you to the moon. If you are happy with the kick you get from Redbull you will be happy with the kick from the Sugar Free Dark Dog as well. Kick Rating - 8.0

Dark Dog Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
Nothing to unique here. A slightly watered down taste with a fairly decent kick. Wish I had more to say on the subject but I don't. Final Judgment - 7.8

Rumba Energy Juice Review

Rumba Energy Juice

Rumba Energy Juice Review
It has been awhile since I have reviewed an Energy Juice, so I thought today would make a great day to try the Rumba Energy Juice as it was a rough weekend and an extra kick in the morning is just what I needed. Since the 15.5 ounce Rumba Energy Juice is made with 100% juice and is non carbonated it should make for an excellent change up from a morning coffee. So let's find out if the Rumba Energy Juice can get me moving on this Monday Morning.

Rumba Energy Juice Review: Taste
Alright as I mentioned above the 15.5 ounce Rumba is non-carbonated and contains 100% juice. The juice taste is actually really good. There is an overwhelming orange juice taste with a hint of pineapple and grape as well. It's really quite unique and I had no problem finishing the whole thing during breakfast. There is absolutely no medicinal aftertaste present in Rumba. If you like Orange Juice you should enjoy Rumba. Taste Rating - 8.8

Rumba Energy Juice Review: Kick
Well it made for a great tasting breakfast energy drink, but will it do the trick and help me make it through Monday? Well with an energy blend that contains 5000 milligrams of caffeine, guarana and glucose on top of 2000 milligrams of taurine and 400 milligrams of Panax Ginseng it definitely delivers a strong kick. There is 56 grams of sugar in this drink, but I believe the majority of that sugar is coming from fruit concentrates (don't quote me on that) which means I really didn't experience a sugary crash at all which is the last thing I want to happen to me half way through Monday. Kick Rating - 8.7

Rumba Energy Juice Review: Final Judgment
Pretty good kick and a great tasting orange/pineapple/grape flavored energy juice flavor. Not only would it make a great substitution for your morning coffee or energy drink (think of all the added vitamins you get from 100% juice), it would also make for a pretty good mixer as well. Can you say screwdriver? Final Judgment - 8.8

Cintron Tropical Azul Energy Drink Review

Cintron Tropical Azul Energy Drink
Cost:$1.99
Cost Per Ounce:$0.13
Active Ingredients:Caffeine, Taurine, B-Vitamins
Taste Rating:9.1
Kick Rating:8.5
Final Judgment Rating:8.8
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Cintron Tropical Azul Energy Drink Review
Well this would be my third review of the Cintron line up. I have already tried the Citrus Mango and Sugar Free Citrus Mango flavors. Today I am going to take a crack at the Tropical Azul flavor from Cintron. In case you have not read the other reviews Cintron comes in a 16 ounce can and has a unique feature - it's resealable. Yes a resealable can. Well not exactly resealable but it does come with a cool spill proof top. I put it to the test, even dropping it once and it held all the precious Energy Drink Ingredients in!

Cintron Tropical Azul Energy Drink Review: Taste
First off Cintron promotes there drinks as having great flavor. So far I have yet to disagree with them. With today's flavor, Cintron Tropical Azul, I still don't disagree with them. The flavor was hard to pinpoint but it definitely has a tropical zing to it that contains no medicinal aftertaste whatsoever, I mean the thought never crossed my mind when I was drinking it. Yeah, I like the original tropical taste, you should too. Taste Rating 9.1

Cintron Tropical Azul Energy Drink Review: Kick
Even though this is the third review of Cintron I have yet to pinpoint how much caffeine is actually in the drink. No one from the Cintron Beverage Group will fill me in on this. However, I can tell you that it does deliver a pretty decent kick, nothing over the top, but definitely worth it. The kick came on pretty quick as there is 26 grams of sugar per serving (2 servings per 16 ounce can). So yeah there was a slight crash after consuming, but I have had worse. Overall still an enjoyable kick. Kick Rating 8.5

Cintron Tropical Azul Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
Another original taste from Cintron. My only quip is that they should come out with a sugar free version of this drink as well like they did with the Sugar Free Citrus Mango. They kept the flavor almost identical in that one so they should be able to do the same for Tropical Azul. Or maybe even come out with a 24 ounce version so that they can really put that plastic top to use and let us enjoy Cintron all day. Final Judgment - 8.8

Talon Sugar Free Energy Drink Review

Talon Sugar Free Energy Drink
Cost:$2.29
Cost Per Ounce:$0.14
Active Ingredients:Caffeine, Taurine, Guarana, B-Vitamins
Taste Rating:8.3
Kick Rating:8.8
Final Judgment Rating:8.5
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Talon Sugar Free Energy Drink Review
Well this will be my second installment of the Talon energy line. The first review I did was on the Talon Blood Punch which had a great fruit punch flavor and a pretty damn good kick as well. This gave me high expectations for the SUgar Free Talon Energy Drink as well. The drinks come in 16 and 24 ounces and are available in original, sugar free and blood punch. The Talon Energy lineup is distributed exclusively at Circle K Beverage Stores. Onto the review.

Talon Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Taste
I was impressed with the last flavor as it offered a unique taste. Sugar Free Talon Energy Drink did not offer the most unique taste; however, it was quite pleasing. This drink tastes very similar to a Red Bull Energy Drink. Which is pretty good since this one is sugar free. The only real difference between Redbull and Sugar Free Talon seems to be that Talon offers the Redbull taste without the Redbull bite. Which is good, as I am not a huge fan of the Red Bull medicinal aftertaste. Taste Rating - 8.3

Talon Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Kick
Redbull like flavor without the bite, but will it deliver the same weak kick as Redbull. Well with 174 milligrams of caffeine, 2000 milligrams of taurine, a healthy serving of B-Vitamins, and 60 millligrams of Guarana extract (16 ounce version) it walks all over Red Bull's measly 80 milligrams of caffeine. The kick was great and sugar free meant no hard crash. I still would like to see what kind of kick the 24 ounce delivers. Check back, eventually I will get my hands on a 24 ounce version and add my 2 cents on the kick! Kick Rating - 8.8

Talon Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
Strong kick, improved Red Bull like flavor, delivered in a 16 ounce can for about $2.29. Not a bad deal at all and it makes a great alternative for people who like Redbull. Look for these in your local Circle K. Final Judgment - 8.5

Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Blow Energy Drink Review
Turns out I was able to get my hands on the new blow energy drink. Yeah, it's hard to find. I think you could get your fixx easier from a small town drug dealer than the people at blow energy drink. They put no thought into distribution at all. Sure there is some marketing hype out there, but the idea of an energy drink with a drug reference is nothing original. We all remember the Cocaine Energy Drink. It just looks like the blow energy drink is just trying to capitalize on the left over press from that fiasco. The government should be all over the coat tails of this one before anybody else gets a chance to even try it. Well enough of the powdery fluff and lets get on with the review of the blow energy drink to see if it is all hype or if it is actually worth buying.

Blow Energy Drink Review: Taste
Well the concept of blow is that it comes in a plastic vile and you mix it with your favorite beverage. So in order to get the taste down I just mixed it with water. What does it taste like? Well basically what you get is something that tastes like a watered down 7-up with a horribly bitter after taste. At least with the Cocaine Energy Drink you got a cool throat numbing sensation. With Blow all you get is a mouthfull of bitter tasting powder. Yeah, it is actually pretty "vial" which is amusing since that is what it comes in. Of the over 150 Energy Drinks that I have reviewed, this is by far the worst tasting one I have tried. Taste Rating - a pitiful 5.1

Blow Energy Drink Review: Kick
Well I have said in the past that taste is not everything when it comes to an energy beverage. So let's see what Blow has to offer in the kick category. Well the drink contains 240 milligrams of caffeine and about 2000 milligrams of taurine. That sounds like a lot but it is really not that much. The Cocaine Energy Drink had 280 milligrams of caffeine and that barely made it into my top five. If you want a strong energy drink try Wired X 505, 5 Hour Energy, Fixx, Redline Energy as they will deliver a far better and longer lasting kick. Heck, even Rockstar and Monster Energy have drinks with a bigger kick and caffeine content. To top it off the energy I did receive from mixing blow and water was short lived. Maybe lasted an hour or two if that. Kick Rating 7.5

Blow Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
Well the whole drug related energy drink thing has been played out before. The taste is "vial" and the kick is nothing to brag about. Top that off with poor distribution and a high price tag of $2.50 per vial (plus shipping) and you not only have a poor performing beverage, you have an expensive one to boot. Maybe they are taking the whole "illicit" drug thing too far by having poor distribution and high prices. Overall I was not impressed and would recommend any one of the other 150 or so drinks before I recommend this one. Maybe instead of producing a bunch of hype they should have worked harder on creating a better tasting more effective product. It shouldn't be long before this product is taken off the shelves or renamed. All it will take is the government to find out about it which means more than a couple people in the U.S population will need to find out about it first. Along with distribution, maybe they should invest some capital in advertising! Sorry guys, the whole thing has been played out before and with much better results I might add. The only thing that this powder reminds me of is an overpriced pixie stick! Final Judgment - 6.4

Bomba Sugar Free Energy Drink Review

Bomba Sugar Free Energy Drink

Active Ingredients:Caffeine, Taurine, B-Vitamins
Taste Rating:8.5
Kick Rating:7.5
Final Judgment Rating:8.2
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Bomba Sugar Free Energy Drink Review
Well I have reviewed three previous Bomba Energy Drinks including; Berry, Ruby Orange, and Original. Today I will review the sugar free Bomba Energy drink. Bomba has been around since 1994 and comes in 250 milliliter (8.4 ounce) grenade shaped glass bottles. To open the bottles, you need to pull the top, kind of like pulling the pin on an actual grenade which lets out a burst of carbonation. Actually pretty cool. They also offer this is plastic bottles as well as 330 ml (12 ounce versions). Enough background and onto the review.

Bomba Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Taste
First off Bomba Sugar Free is supposed to taste just like the Original without the sugar (duh). Well they pulled this off quite well. It still tastes similar to a regular Redbull without the medicinal aftertaste. It also still has that unique bubble gum flavor to it. To top it off, Bomba is made from sparkling spring water making it quite a refreshing as well as good tasting drink. This time I tried it as a mixer. Instead of a Vodka Redbull I had a Vodka Bomba. It was actually quite good. The hint of bubble gum masked the majority of the Vodka flavor. Taste Rating 8.5 - just as good as the original without the sugar.

Bomba Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Kick
The kick seems to be the only real area that Bomba needs to work on. The drink contains 100 milligrams of caffeine, a bunch of B-Vitamins along with 1000 milligrams of taurine. Don't get me wrong, if you are looking for a decent pick me up that is not over the top than Bomba Sugar Free is made just for you. However, if you are looking for a Stronger Energy Drink than I suggest trying one of the hardcore energy drinks. So if you are used to Red Bull, Bomba will do the trick as it has similar ingredients (but a better taste). Kick Rating 7.5

Bomba Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
Great taste, decent kick. I say this after each review of Bomba, but I firmly believe that if they can keep the taste the same and make a 16 ounce version of this drink they would be able to capitalize on a larger market. That way someone looking for a larger pick me up than the 8.4 ounce version can experience the great taste as well. On a good note, it was nice that the flavor of the sugar free version mimicked the original version. Final Judgment 8.2

Stay tuned for the review of the last flavor - Bomba Black

Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Matrix Sugar Free Energy Drink Review
Well today I am going to hit the gym before I go to work. When I do this I usually like to take an Energy Drink beforehand in lieu of breakfast. This gives me that quick burst of energy I need to keep me going in the morning on an empty stomach. Of course when I am done lifting I eat within 30 minutes. And when I hit the gym before work I like to select an energy drink that is formulated for working out. The drink I chose today is the sugar free Matrix Energy Drink which is made by IBE (Innovative Body Enhancement). According to the IBE site, the 8 ounce sugar free Matrix Energy Drink will "bring you to a new level of physical and mental energy as well as increase stimulation of metabolism. Sounds great for a morning lift, so let's see how the Matrix Energy Drink performs.

Matrix Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Taste
Well first off I would like to state, as I have before, that most energy drinks that are geared towards the gym rat, or hardcore athlete usually don't taste the greatest. However, when I judge one of these I put more emphasis on the performance of the product than the taste. That being said the Matrix Energy Drink is citrus flavored and has a pretty strong medicinal aftertaste. However, I was informed that there is a new blend coming out shortly that is supposed to greatly reduce this. Don't get me wrong, the taste wasn't horrible, but it is definitely on par with most other energy drinks marketed towards gym rats. Taste Rating - 7.0 - If they send me the reformulated drink I will re-rate the taste.

Matrix Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Kick
Alright, now for the good stuff. Is this going to help me get through my morning workout on an empty stomach? Well the bottle suggests drinking 30 minutes prior to activity which is what I did. 20 minutes later on the car ride to the gym I could feel the energy kick in. To further put it to the test I pushed hard on my upper body workout. Matrix was definitely ready to stand up to the test. Not only that, since it's sugar free there was no crash halfway through my workout. That's the last thing I need when doing dumbbell flyes, an energy crash, followed by 80 pound dumbbells falling on my head. Any ways the kick was great. And to top it off the new reformulated version is supposed to be amped up even more. Hope I am able to get my hands on some! Kick Rating - 9.4

Matrix Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
Well the 8 ounce sugar free Matrix Energy Drink was lacking a little bit in the taste category, but hopefully the new formula will improve on that. Otherwise the kick was more than satisfactory. It actually kept my apetite supressed well after I was done working out; however, I ate anyway to refuel my body. Final Judgment - 8.5

Xtreme Shock Mandarin Orange Energy Drink Review

Xtreme Shock Mandarin Orange

Cost Per Ounce:$0.22
Active Ingredients:Caffeine, Energy Blend???

Final Judgment Rating:8.6
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Xtreme Shock Mandarin Orange Energy Drink Review
Well I have reviewed two Xtreme Shock Energy Drinks so far and can say that I have been impressed by the kick both times. So today I thought I would give the final Mandarin Orange Flavor a try. I generally try to take Xtreme Shock before I workout, as that seems to be what it was meant for. It's been a long day so I am looking forward to the kick from Xtreme Shock. So let's see how the 12 Ounce Mandarin Orange Xtreme Shock (made by ANSI) performs.

Xtreme Shock Mandarin Orange Energy Drink Review: Taste
First off I would like to say that I have never tried a Mandarin. Now this might affect how I perceive the taste of this beverage but I will give it my best shot. So about 15 minutes before I leave for the gym I give Xtreme Shock a try. You can definitely taste the orange flavor but I am not sure about any other noticeable taste. The orange flavor kind of tastes like an Orange Tang on steroids. What does that mean? Artificial orange flavor with a bite. Now don't get me wrong it doesn't taste bad, but you can tell that this bad boy is made to amp you amp for your workout. Heck, it even gives you a tingly sensation. Taste Rating - 7.4

Xtreme Shock Mandarin Orange Energy Drink Review: Kick
Well we have established that Mandarin Orange Xtreme Shock tastes like Tang on Steroids. But do you get the kick you need in 15 minutes like the 12 ounce bottle states. You sure do, heck it might have only been 2 minutes and I was feeling the tingly sensation in my arms and neck. Couple that cool tingly sensation with 200 milligrams of caffeine and a proprietary energy blend and I was on my way to having one heck of a workout. Top that off with no sugar crash half way through my workout and you can say that I am pleased with Xtreme Shock. Kick Rating - 9.0

Xtreme Shock Mandarin Orange Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
Tastes like Tang on Steroids, gives you a tingly sensation within a couple minutes and an energy explosion within 15 minutes. Yeah the taste is not like your typical citrus energy drink, but I would rather use this drink before a workout and sacrifice a little taste to gain the increased energy. Overall a big fan of the kick from these drinks. Final Judgment - 8.6

Crunk Sugar Free Energy Drink Review

Sugar Free Crunk Energy Drink - 16 Ounces

Active Ingredients:Caffeine, Green Tea Extract, B-Vitamins
Taste Rating:9.2
Kick Rating:8.0
Final Judgment Rating:8.6
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Crunk Sugar Free Energy Drink Review
Well not too long ago I had the chance to try the hip hop inspired Crunk Energy Drink. Crunk, meaning to go crazy or off the hook, was a great tasting Energy Drink that used a pomegranate flavor. Today I will review the 8.3 ounce sugar free Crunk Energy Drink (also available in 16 ounces). Let's see if they successfully eliminated the sugar while keeping the great taste of the original. And if you can't remember from the original review, the sugar free Crunk Energy drink also contains Ashwaganda, which I believe is a form of Ginseng (but I could be mistaken) and Horny Goat weed which is supposed to arouse your senses.

Crunk Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Taste
Well to cut the calories from 120 (8 ounces) to 5 the artificial sweetener sucralose was used. Sometimes when this is done the flavoring gets thrown out of proportion. Fortunately for Crunk, the blend worked great. The only difference between the regular and sugar free is that the sugar free tastes a little sweeter (which is not a bad thing). The unique pomegranate flavor (kind of like a mix between grape juice and cranberry juice) is still prevalant. This would still (IMHO) make for a great mixer as the taste would go great with vodka. Just don't overdo it if you mix energy drinks and alcohol. Taste Rating 9.2

Crunk Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Kick
My only quirp with this drink is that it does not give you the biggest kick. The 8.3 ounce version that I reviewed has 100 milligrams of caffeine, green tea extract and a bunch of b-vitamins (Red Bull has 80 milligrams of caffeine). It delivers a decent kick but I was left wanting more. However, the simple solution seems to be to just jump up to the 16 ounce version of the Sugar Free Crunk Energy drink. This would give you 200 milligrams of caffeine, in turn delivering a bigger kick. But since I reviewed the 8.3 ounce version that is what I will base the kick rating on. Kick Rating - 8.0.

Crunk Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
The sugar free version tasted as good as the original. Crunk stayed true to the original and unique pomegranate flavor. I enjoyed it. But if you are looking for a big kick then I suggest the 16 ounce version. Still like to see a 24 ounce version as well. What can I say I am a caffeine junky. Yeah! Final Judgment - 8.6

Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Wired X3000 Energy Drink Review
Well I normally do a Wired Energy Drink each week. Last week I missed the review as Saturday was too nice to even be in front of a computer for a minute. So instead of the usual Friday review I will just do the Wired X3000 review today instead. If you don't know anything about Wired you should visit their Website. They have pretty much something for everyone; tons of flavors, diet / low carb drinks, high caffeine content drinks, regular drinks and a variety of sizes. Take my word on this. If you like Energy Drinks than you should find something that you like from Wired. Enough fluff and onto the review of Wired X3000.

Wired X3000 Energy Drink Review: Taste
Well after the first drink I knew exactly who this drink was made for. It was made for people that are fans of Red Bull. The only difference seems to be that it is cheaper and they masked the medicinal aftertaste a hell of a lot better than Red Bull Did. I personally am not a huge fan of Red Bull but a lot of people are. So since their was an improvement of the Red Bull flavor I will give it a better taste rating. Taste Rating - 8.0

Wired X3000 Energy Drink Review: Kick
Good taste and a good kick. There was 188 milligrams of caffeine, combined with an oversized helping of taurine (3000 milligrams) topped of with another oversized load of b-vitamins. The combination of the above made for a pleasant fast acting kick which was way better than Redbull. This is one flavor I would like them see make into the big 24 ounce cans. If they could increase the caffeine levels to 300 + milligrams while keeping the same taste I would be on board with ordering a case from them! Red Bull doesn't have a can that big! Kick Rating - 8.9

Wired X3000 Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
With a taste similar to Redbull,a kick way better than Red Bull and a price way better than Red Bull you can't go wrong. Even though I am not a fan of the Red Bull taste (taste is subjective), I would recommend this to anyone that is. More bang for your buck with less medicinal aftertaste. Final Judgment - 8.6

Zipfizz Energy Shot Review

Zipfizz Energy Shot
Cost: $2.00
Cost Per Ounce:$0.50
Active Ingredients:Caffeine. B-VITAMINS!!!
Taste Rating:8.7
Kick Rating:9.3
Final Judgment Rating:9.1
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Zipfizz Energy Shot Review
Well it has been quite awhile since I have done an Energy Drink Shot review so today I will review the Zipfizz energy shot which retails for about $1.99. This little 4 ounce bugger only has 30 calories, only 8 grams of carbs and contains zero sugar. The Zipfizz energy shot is marketed as a healthy alternative to energy drinks for those above reasons. Along with the liquid shot, Zipfizz also offers mixable flavored energy powders (which I will be reviewing later). Other than that I don't know too much more about Zipfizz so I will just start the review. That's probably all you care about anyway.

Zipfizz Energy Shot Review: Taste
First off the flavor that I am reviewing is fruit punch. It is the only one currently available but I believe they are making other flavors. So does it taste like fruit punch? Yes the Zipfizz liquid energy shot tastes like fruit punch with an emphasis on the berry flavors. There is some medicinal aftertaste to the drink, but it is less prevalant than the majority of energy shots including one of my favorites - 5 Hour Energy - Berry Flavor. But what do you expect when you cram all those energy ingredients into a little 4 ounce shot? I was certainly pleased with the results and would have to say it is by far one of the better tasting energy shots that I have tried so far. Taste Rating - 8.7

Zipfizz Energy Shot Review: Kick
Well the fruit punch / berry taste is pretty good. But will this little 4 ounce bugger give you the energy you need? Well Zipfizz has 120 milligrams of caffeine, taurine, green tea extract and an unbelievable amount of b-vitamins. What's an unbelievable amount? How about 41,667% of your daily allowance of vitamin B-12. So yeah there is a lot of energy ingredients packed into this. I wish I would have used this one during a workout as the combination of caffeine and b-vitamins would of have gave me the juice I needed. Instead I choose to shoot it after lunch. Which by all means worked out great. Everybody could use a little pick me up after lunch. Hey, it kept my productivity up, which is pretty hard to do on a Friday! Great quick acting long lasting kick. Kick Rating - 9.3

Zipfizz Energy Shot Review: Final Judgment
Good taste, fast acting kick, low calorie count, no sugar. What more could you ask for right. Maybe some more b-vitamins? All joking aside I don't think I would change a thing about this energy shot. The addition of some more flavors however would be great. I know I would love to try them. I feel pretty confident when I say you would enjoy this one as it is one of the best all around energy shots that I have tried. Final Judgment - 9.1

Unbound Lo-Carb Energy Drink Review

Unbound - Lo-Carb
Cost: $2.00
Cost Per Ounce:$0.13
Active Ingredients:8.7
Taste Rating:8.8
Kick Rating:8.7
Final Judgment Rating:8.8
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Unbound Lo-Carb Energy Drink Review
Well a couple days ago I reviewed the Unbound Energy Drink. I was quite pleased with the original so I thought I would give the Unbound Lo-carb version a try as well. The 16 ounce Lo-Carb Unbound has 20 calories and 6 total grams of carbs. As I mentioned in the previous review the Unbound Energy line up seems to be targeted at extreme sports including super cross racing, freestyle motocross, desert racing and X-games competitions. The suggested retain on this drink is $2.00, which seems to be an average price for 16 ounce Energy Drinks. These are distributed nationally at at BP and AMPM convenience stores / gas stations. If you find them anywhere else let the other readers know. Enough fluff and onto the good stuff.

Unbound Lo-Carb Energy Drink Review: Taste
I could not quite pinpoint the taste of the original Unbound Energy Drink; however, I did enjoy the taste. Fortunately for me I did not have as hard a time pinpointing the taste of the Lo Carb Unbound Energy Drink. To me it tasted like a supped up version of the Red Bull Energy Drink. Why supped up? Well there was no medicinal aftertaste and the blend of artificial sweeteners used seemed to be right on the money. The taste was a little sweeter than Red Bull, but not over the top. Now normally I am not a huge fan of drinks that taste like Red Bull, but in this case I was impressed as Lo-Carb Unbound managed to improve on the taste, get rid of the medicinal aftertaste and keep the calorie count to 20. Taste Rating 8.8

Unbound Lo-Carb Energy Drink Review: Kick
The taste was pretty good but how does the kick hold up? Well it is better than Red Bull as the lo-carb Unbound used the same energy blend as the Original. That means that in 16 ounces you get an energy blend that consists of 16o milligrams of caffeine, 2000 milligrams of taurine, Ginseng Root extract and a healthy serving of B-Vitamins. All that without the sugar. No crash, but a slightly slower delivery of energy. I can't complain, I didn't mind waiting a couple extra minutes for the kick. Especially when the calorie count is so low. Kick Rating - 8.7

Unbound Lo-Carb Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
Good taste with a good kick. Price is average at $2.00 for a 16 ounce can. Is there anything I would like Unbound to fix? Well they are good in the taste category but I would love for them to keep the same taste and release an Ultra Unbound with about 100 more milligrams of caffeine in a 24 ounce version. Why? I like caffeine. You gotta problem with that? Final Judgment - 8.8

Radioactive Sugar Free Energy Drink

Sugar Free Radioactive Energy Drink - 16 Ounces
Cost:$1.79 - $2.29
Cost Per Ounce:$0.13-$0.16
Active Ingredients:Guarana, Taurine, B-Vitamins, Ginseng
Taste Rating:8.8
Kick Rating:9.3
Final Judgment Rating:9.1
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Radioactive Sugar Free Energy Drink Review
Well today I am going to give the Radioactive Sugar Free Energy Drink a whirl. It comes in a 10.5 or 16 ounce can contains zero carbs and zero sugar. It is contains the artificial sweetener sucralose and is highly carbonated which in my opinion would make for a great mixer. On top of that the can glows in the dark which is pretty cool. The 16 ounce Radioactive Sugar Free Energy Drink retails from $1.79 to $2.29 and the 10 ounce retails for $1.39 to $1.69depending on where you purchase it. Overall the glow in the dark can combined with the bright orange and black label makes for a pretty cool package.

Radioactive Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Taste
Alright the glow in the dark can is already a conversation piece in itself, but how does the sugar free Radioactive Energy Drink taste? Well it tastes sort of like a Diet Rockstar Energy Drink with the exception being that the artificial sweetener blend (Sucralose) and high carbonation make for a better flavor and disguise any medicinal aftertaste that you would normally see with a diet / low carb or low calorie Energy Drink. Radioactive Sugar Free also has a hint of tart flavor, but overall the drink was quite refreshing. Taste Rating - 8.7

Radioactive Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Kick
The taste is pretty good for a diet / sugar free energy drink, but will it stand up in the kick category. Fortunately for us the 16 ounce version comes packed with 200 milligrams of guarana extract (natural caffeine) along with a party of B-Vitamins, Ginseng and 2000 milligrams of taurine. So yeah, Radioactive Sugar Free Energy Drink packs a kick just short of a nuclear reaction. I enjoyed it and with zero sugar there was no crash associated with the kick! Kick Rating 9.3

Radioactive Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
Cool Can...Great Kick...Good Taste... I think that about sums up this beverage. If your lucky you will see it at a local 7-11 near you or one of many other gas stations. So give one a try. At the very least you got yourself a glow in the dark 10.5 or 16 ounce can. Final Judgment - 9.1

Unbound Energy Drink Review

Unbound Energy Drink
Cost: $2.00
Cost Per Ounce:$0.13
Active Ingredients:Caffeine, Taurine, B-Vitamins, Ginseng Extract
Taste Rating:8.7
Kick Rating:8.7
Final Judgment Rating:8.7
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Unbound Energy Drink Review
Well today I will be reviewing the Original 16 ounce Unbound Energy Drink. It also comes in a sugar free / low carb version and a juice version which I will review down the road. Unbound Energy seems to be associating their product with action sports including super cross racing, freestyle motocross, desert racing and X-games competitiona. Since I do not participate in any of those extreme action sports I guess I will just have to judge the 16 ounce Unbound Energy Drink on how it performs in the taste and kick categories in the Gym.

Unbound Energy Drink Review: Taste
Well first of this 16 ounce energy drink had a really hard taste to pinpoint. I was kind of a cross between a citrus flavor and some other flavor I could not quite put my tongue on. Honestly I tried really hard to pinpoint it but I just couldn't do it. So I guess that leaves us with the question on how did it taste? Well at first I was not sure if I liked it, but the more I drank of the 16 ounce Unbound Energy Drink the more it kind of grew on me. I don't know if it was because I could not pinpoint the taste or if I just enjoyed the beverage. Either way I guess I would have to say that it was a pretty good tasting drink. There was no medicinal aftertaste, but there might have been a smoky aftertaste to it. Not quite sure. I think I will try another one tomorrow for breakfast to see if I can pinpoint the flavor. Taste Rating 8.7

Update: I had one in the morning, still could not quite pinpoint the flavor. I just can't figure out what to compare it to so that I can tell you guys what your getting into. I recommend just trying one for yourself. I like it!

Unbound Energy Drink Review: Kick
Well the taste was hard to pinpoint (meaning it was unique and not just some knock off of a popular energy drink) but overall I enjoyed it. But how does the kick hold up? Well there is an energy blend that consists of 2000 milligrams of the following, glucose, caffeine, inositol, Glucuronalactone and Maltodextrin. On top of that there is 2000 milligrams of taurine, Ginseng Root extract and a healthy serving of B-Vitamins. The caffeine content, weighing in at 160 milligrams for 16 ounces, is slightly above average for a drink that size. Regardless of the slightly above average caffeine content, I was pretty pleased with the kick I got from Unbound. The kick was quick and I expereinced no crash afterwards which is surprising for an energy drink that has 54 grams of sugar. I don't know if it has something to do with the particular energy blend that they use, but other energy drinks with that much sugar have made me crash in the past. Unbound Energy doesn't use corn syrup so maybe that has something to do with me not experiencing a crash. Maybe I am building a tolerance, or maybe Unbound knows something the other's don't. Either way it was a pretty good kick and got me pumped up for my morning workout. Kick Rating - 8.7

Unbound Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
Unique taste, decent kick. Makes me look forward to when I do the review of the sugar free and juice versions of Unbound. Where can you pick one of these up? Well looks like they are distributed nationally at BP and AMPM. Those are the only two places that I know of. If you know of other places to get the drink let everyone else know as it is worth giving a try! Oh yeah, the suggested retail for one of these is around $2.00 for a 16 ounce can. Final Judgment - 8.7

Kick Rating:9.5 (for value)
Final Judgment Rating:8.7 - good value
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Diet Pepsi Max Drink Review
Well I don't know if this technically constitutes an Energy Drink but I am going to review it anyway as the added caffeine of Diet Pepsi Max puts it on par with some energy drinks. This product has actually been around for quite some time overseas. It has been in the UK Market since 1993, but was just known as Pepsi Max. With the ever increasing focus on caffeine content, Pepsi Co. decided to introduce it in the United States. So how much caffeine does Diet Pepsi Max have and how does it compare to some of the more popular energy drinks? Well it really depends on what size you get as it is available in 12 ounce cans, 20 ounce bottles and two-liter bottles. Read on to find out!

Diet Pepsi Max Drink Review: Taste
Well first off this drink basically tastes like a Diet Pepsi or similar generic diet colas. It still has artificial sweeteners to keep the calorie count to zero. I thought there would be a taste difference between the original diet Pepsi and the diet Pepsi Max because of the added caffeine, but I was unable to notice any difference. Since this drink is technically not an energy drink I am not sure how to rate the taste. I personally am not a huge fan of Diet Pepsi but a lot of people are. However, if you like Diet Pepsi you should enjoy Diet Pepsi Max. Taste Rating 8.2

Diet Pepsi Max Review: Kick
Well exactly how much caffeine does it have? Well in 8 ounces there is 46 milligrams of caffeine. So a 12 ounce can has roughly 69 milligrams of caffeine and a 16 ounce bottle would have 92 milligrams of caffeine. For comparison we will use Red Bull as it is currently the most popular energy drink on the market (although I don't know why). A 8.4 ounce Red Bull contains 80 milligrams of caffeine. You pay about $2.00 for the 80 milligrams of caffeine so about $0.03 per milligram of caffeine. You can pick up a 20 ounce diet pepsi max for $1.29 which would give you 115 milligrams of caffeine or about $0.01 per milligram of caffeine. Taking it even further you can get a two liter of diet Pepsi Max for about $2.00 which is roughly 68 ounces. This two liter has a total of 391 milligrams of caffeine in it which brings the cost per milligram of caffeine well below $0.01. What am I getting at. The caffeine is cheap! For the review I had a 20 ounce bottle (115 milligrams) of caffeine. The kick was alright but it was not on par with the Strongest Energy Drinks on the market. However, the value rating is unbelievable. Since the value is so good I will add that into the kick equation. Kick Rating - 9.5

Diet Pepsi Max Review: Final Judgment
Tastes like a diet Pepsi and gives you a cheap kick. The only bad thing is if you want a big kick like the strongest energy drinks would supply, you would have to drink a two liter bottle (about 68 ounces) which is a lot. However, you can get that two liter for about $2.00. So no diet Pepsi Max is not technically an energy drink, but if you drink enough of it you can get the same effects. I can't wait until parents start buying this for there 10 and 12 year olds. Would make for some great videos to post on You Tube! Final Judgment - 8.7

Wired Citrus Punch Energy Drink Review
Well I have reviewed quite a few Wired Energy Drinks over the last few months (11 Total I believe); which means I have about six more varieties to review before completing the entire line up. Yeah, Wired has that many varieties. Today's flavor is called Citrus Punch and is available in a 16 ounce can for $2.00 a can or $48.00 for a case shipped right to your front door. I have enjoyed pretty all of the last 11 flavors, so I am sure I am going to enjoy the Wired Citrus Punch as well.

Wired Citrus Punch Energy Drink Review: Taste
Citrus Punch seemed a weird name for an Energy Drink. Am I going to get a citrus flavor or a punch flavor? Well turns out I got a little of both. The initial taste was a fruit punch flavor followed by a pleasant citrus aftertaste. Sounds like a weird combo but this Wired drink pulls it off very well. If you like either citrus flavored or fruit punch energy drinks (or both) you are sure to enjoy the taste of this one. I know I did. In fact I think this might be one of my favorite's from Wired as far as the taste category is concerned. Taste Rating - 9.4

Wired Citrus Punch Energy Drink Review: Kick
Well the taste is pretty damn good, but how is the kick? Well this drink from Wired contains 94 milligrams of caffeine, taurine, and a crap load of B-Vitamins. Not the strongest energy drink that Wired has to offer, but it still delivers a decent kick without the sugary crash. Kick Rating - 8.5

Wired Citrus Punch Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
What this drink lacks in kick, it definitely makes up for in taste. Although not the strongest from Wired, it is probably my favorite tasting drink in the lineup. Even though the kick is not the strongest it will definitely get the job done. If you are looking for a stronger kick look for the Wired X505 or the Wired X344. But if you are looking for a moderate kick with a great taste look no further than the Citrus Punch. Final Judgment - 9.0
