A.C.T Energy Drink Review - Can

ACT Energy Drink - 12 Ounce Can
Cost: $2.00
Cost Per Ounce:$0.17
Active Ingredients:Guarana, Green Tea, B-Vitamins, Ginseng, Creatine
Taste Rating:8.4
Kick Rating:8.2
Final Judgment Rating:8.3
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

A.C.T Energy Drink Review - Can:
Well I reviewed first reviewed the A.C.T Energy Drink back in January 2007. So it has been quite some time. The main difference between that review and this one is that the one I did back in January on the ACT Energy Drink was the powder form, the one I am doing today is for the new 12 ounce cans. Even though it has been awhile since I did the powder review, I remember that mixing the drink in 10 ounces of water like the packet said gave you an overwhelmingly strong taste. However, when mixing it with a sugar free kool aid you got a much better taste. Hopefully the new 12 ounce can from ACT will alleviate this strong taste. ACT is basically a multi level marketing energy drink from M2C Global that is toted as a healthy alternative to your everyday carbonated sugary energy drink. So let's see how the new 12 ounce ACT Energy Drink can performs in the taste and kick categories.

A.C.T Energy Drink Review - Can: Taste
Well the ready to drink ACT Energy Drink 12 ounce cans definitely have a smoother taste than manually mixing the powder. The taste is not quite as strong as the powder either. The cans still have a fruit punch flavor but there is no longer any need to mix it with anything else. This fruit punch type flavor comes from a mixture of the following juice extracts; cherry, pineapple, mango and orange. Cherry seems to be the overwhelming flavor but the mixture of the other juice extracts gives it that fruit punch flavoring. You can also taste a hint of orange, but it is far from overwhelming. Actually to tell you the truth, the can tastes a lot better than the mixable packets as the packets sometimes left little crystals that did not mix properly. Not too bad for only having 22 calories. Taste Rating - 8.4 (original packets has a taste rating of 7.9)

A.C.T Energy Drink Review - Can: Kick
Alright so the ready to drink ACT Energy Drink Cans taste better than the do it yourself packets. But was there any refinement in the kick category? Well it looks as if the same ingredients are listed on the can as the packet. The main energy ingredients seem to be guarana extract (natural caffeine), green tea extract (natural caffeine that also contains a healthy dose of the antioxidant EGCG), Panax Ginseng and a healthy serving of B-Vitamins (B-3, B-6, B-12). It also contains creatine monohydrate, which is supposed to be a great energy source for your muscles. A lot of gym rats use creatine to bulk up. So basically the same ingredients as the packet that end up delivering a stable and healthy kick. ACT would be a great pre workout beverage as well as an after lunch beverage. No jitters, no crash, no sugar! Kick Rating - 8.2

A.C.T Energy Drink Review - Can: Final Judgment
The can seems to pull it off more than the packets in the taste category. I liked the convenience of the can much better as well. It seems to deliver the same kick as the packets. Overall - not too shabby for an energy beverage especially since it is low cal and sugar free. If you want to pick up one of these beverages you are going to have to find an online store or distributor. They are not readily available over the counter or at your local gas station. Overall I liked the improvement and the health factor. The cans are slightly more expensive than the packets. But the $2.00 you pay per can is average with the rest of the industry. You can find them in bulk cheaper online, or even cheaper I believe if you become a distributor. Final Judgment - 8.3

Energy Drink Ratings Explained

XO + Vanilla Energy Drink Review
Another long day at the office (10+ hours) and I still need to make it to the gym which is why I grabbed the XO + Vanilla Energy Drink. This would be my third (of seven total) review on the XO Energy Drink line up. Why did I choose XO + Vanilla before going to the gym. Actually there is a couple reasons. First off, I have tried two XO products before (they all seem to have the same energy ingredients) and they gave me the quick energy I needed for the gym. Second, it's a small, portable 180 milliliter (6 ounce) shot that you can slam quickly and can consume at room temperature. This means I can leave it in my car and drink it after I leave work on the way to the gym. Sometimes I forget my energy drink in the office fridge, which really doesn't help. Allright, enough fluff, let's try the XO + vanilla Energy Drink.

Official Site: XO Energy Drinks

XO + Vanilla Energy Drink Review: Taste
Well first off the label "Vanilla" on the drink prepared me for the taste. The name on the bottle is definitely true to the taste. It has a very strong vanilla flavor that seems to go down extremely smooth (no carbonation), especially since it is only 6 ounces. It kind of reminds me of a potent home made vanilla shake. I know every once in awhile I tell you about a unique flavor, then I end up trying another energy drink that tastes almost identical. Well the XO + Vanilla Energy Drink truly is Unique and I doubt I will run into anything similar. If you know of another energy drink that is truly vanilla flavored, with no carbonation, let me know as I would like to put it to the test against XO + Vanilla. Taste Rating - 9.0 (extra point for being unique)

XO + Vanilla Energy Drink Review: Kick
Taste is unique and smooth which pretty much describes the kick factor as well. The energy drink ingredients include 47 milligrams of caffeine, 800 milligrams of taurine, 2 milligrams of B6. The list also contains a unique ingredient (at least to energy drinks). There is 26 grams of carbohydrates that pick up where the rest of the energy ingredients leave off. The caffeine and B-Vitamins seem to give the quick boost I am looking for and the carbohydrates seem to help maintain that energy level. Pretty neat concept that has worked for me so far at the gym. All in all a nice kick from a little 6 ounce shot. Kick Rating - 8.9

XO + Vanilla Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
Truly unique, smooth flavor followed by a unique energy blend that delivers a decent kick. Combine that with portability and ability to consume at room temperature and you have a another good product from XO. You can pick one of these 6 ounce shots up for $1.69 to $1.99. So far XO is 3 for 3 in my review book.

Big Red Jak Energy Drink

Big Red Jak Energy Drink
Cost:$1.50
Cost Per Ounce:$0.09
Active Ingredients:Caffeine, Taurine, B-Vitamins, Ginseng
Taste Rating:8.9
Kick Rating:8.8
Final Judgment Rating:8.9
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Energy Drink Review
Well this would be the third Red Jak Energy Drink that I have reviewed. I reviewed the Low Carb Big Red Jak last week and thoroughly enjoyed it. I enjoyed it quite a bit more than the first Red Jak Energy Drink that I tried because the product line has been reformulated for a better taste and stronger kick. Since I enjoyed the sugar free version, I had high expectations for the regular Big Red Jak. Let's see if those expectations were met.

Energy Drink Review: Taste
When I tried the old Red Jak it has a medicinal aftertaste to it, the new (and improved) version not only got rid of the medicinal after taste, but also had a very enjoyable fruit punch taste. So I would have to say that the reformulation of the 16 ounce Big Red Jak paid off in the taste category. No aftertaste and improved flavor. Taste Rating - 8.9 (it tastes slightly better than the lo carb version, which in itself was very great tasting)

Energy Drink Review: Kick
All right so the taste reformulation paid off, will it do the same for the kick category? Well the energy ingredient list contains 164 milligrams of caffeine, 2000 milligrams of taurine, bunch of b-vitamins and 200 milligrams of Panax Ginseng Root. So yes, the kick was improved as well and it is now on par with the Monster Energy Drinks lineup. Kick Rating - 8.8

Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
Overall a nice improvement over the old Red Jak. The new, reformulated BIG Red Jak has a great fruit punch taste as well a new improved kick that is on par with main stream energy drinks. So it's just as good (if not slightly better) as the mainstream energy drinks and to top it off it only costs about $1.50. Take that Monster and Rockstar! Final Judgment - 8.9 (extra point for good value)

Sugar Free Who's Your Daddy Green Tea Energy Drink

Sugar Free Who's YOur Daddy Green Tea
Cost:$1.49 to $1.99
Cost Per Ounce:$.09 to $.012
Active Ingredients:caffeine, Taurine, B-Vitamins
Taste Rating:9.3
Kick Rating:9.4
Final Judgment Rating:9.3
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Sugar Free Who's Your Daddy Green Tea Energy Drink Review
Well this would be the third energy drink that I have tried from the Who's Your Daddy Energy Drink line up. I have tried both the original and sugar free versions and would have to say that both were a pleasure to review. Next up to bat is the all new Sugar Free Who's Your Daddy Green Tea Energy Drink, which by the way is also available in non-sugar free. I am reviewing the 16 ounce can, but it also comes in a slim 8.4 ounce can as well. So let's see if the third installment is as good as the first two.

Official Site: Who's Your Daddy Energy Drink

Sugar Free Who's Your Daddy Green Tea Energy Drink Review: Taste
Well first off let me tell you that I used to despise green tea based drinks. However, they have improved immensely and have been growing on me for quite some time. The Sugar Free WYD Green Tea is slightly different as this one is also blended with citrus. Is the Green Tea citrus blend any good? To tell you the truth I was not optimistic of the taste at first, but after I tried it I was surprised. The addition of citrus to the Green Tea flavor was great as it helped take the bite out the Green Tea flavor. To tell you the truth, I actually tried this drink on Friday and ended up drinking several more over the weekend. The flavor was not only refreshing, it was unique. The fact that there are zero calories in this 16 ounce beverage was also a plus. Taste Rating - 9.3

Sugar Free Who's Your Daddy Green Tea Energy Drink Review: Kick
Well the taste was unique and refreshing, but how is the kick? Well with 200 milligrams of caffeine, 1600 milligrams of taurine and a bunch of B-Vitamins, I would have to say the kick was definitely on par with the other two WYD drinks that I tried. All that energy, with a pleasant and refreshing taste. Mmm, I like. Kick Rating - 9.4

Sugar Free Who's Your Daddy Green Tea Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
Great kick, unique flavor and sugar free. I think this is my favorite from Who's Your Daddy so far, but I am prone to low cal sugar free drinks, so that might sway my opinion a little. So if you are looking for a good kick and are a fan of tea, look no further than the Sugar Free WYD Green Tea (w/citrus), you should not be disapointed. Final Judgment - 9.3

Cintron Pineapple Passion Energy Drink Review

Cintron Pineapple Passion
Cost:$1.99
Cost Per Ounce:$0.13
Active Ingredients:Caffeine, Taurine, B-Vitamins
Taste Rating:7.5
Kick Rating:8.5
Final Judgment Rating:8.0
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Cintron Pineapple Passion Energy Drink Review
Well this would be the fourth and final installment of the Cintron Energy Drink line up. The other flavors that I have reviewed include Tropical Azul, Citrus Mango and Sugar Free Citrus Mango. All those flavors were extremely unique and flavorful. The beverages also come with a unique top or lid that goes over the 16 ounce can. First and only can that I have seen that becomes spill proof. Enough fluff and onto the review of the Pineapple Passion Cintron.

Cintron Pineapple Passion Energy Drink Review: Taste
First off as I stated above, all the flavors that I had previously reviewed were all unique and had great flavors. That being said I did not quite enjoy the Pineapple Passion flavor quite as much as the past drinks. That is probably because I am not a huge fan of the pineapple taste. However, if you like pineapples blended with a passion flavor you will enjoy this beverage. If you really like pineapple's that would be even better as the pineapple flavor kind of overwhelms the passion fruit flavor. However, since I did not personally like the taste I will have to give it a taste rating of 7.5. Not bad, but not great.

Cintron Pineapple Passion Energy Drink Review: Kick
The taste wasn't for me, but the kick is the same as the rest of the lineup. I have no idea how much actual caffeine is in the drink, but it is present, and combined with b-vitamins and taurine. The kick is above average, but not over the top. There was no crash after consuming, which is surprising since there is 52 grams of sugar in a 16 ounce can. Basically slightly above average kick. Kick Rating - 8.5

Cintron Pineapple Passion Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
This flavor was not for me, but the rest of the flavors were definitely unique. You probably won't find another energy drink with the mix of flavor that Cintron offers. The kick is slightly above average and will do you better than a Red Bull, but it is not among the strongest drinks out there. Final Judgment - 8.0

Big Red Jak Low Carb Energy Drink Review

Big Red Jak Low Carb
Cost: $1.50
Cost Per Ounce:$0.09
Active Ingredients:Caffeine, Taurine, B-Vitamins, Ginseng
Taste Rating:8.7
Kick Rating:8.8
Final Judgment Rating:8.8
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Big Red Jak Low Carb Energy Drink Review
It has been quite a long time since I reviewed a Red Jak Energy Drink. I actually was not the most impressed with it when I reviewed it initially, but for $1.50 it was not bad. However, I was recently informed that the formula for Red Jak Energy Drinks has been changed and improved. Everyone deserves a second chance so I thought I would try out thenew Big Red Jak Low Carb Energy Drink to see if these changes are true. I will even retest the original Red Jack to see if the changes were made as well, so stay tuned for that review also. Enough fluff and onto the review of the 16 ounce Low Carb Big Red Jak.

Big Red Jak Low Carb Energy Drink Review: Taste
In the original review I noted that there was a medicinal aftertaste. Fortunately for Low Carb Red Jak that medicinal aftertaste is no longer present. This helps bring the taste out a lot better. Before it was somewhat hard to pinpoint, but now you can tell it has a pleasant fruit punch taste to it. Top that off with the fact that you only get 20 calories in this 16 ounce drink and I would have to say that the reformulation definitely paid off in the taste category. Especially since the low carb version tastes better than the old original version. Taste Rating - 8.7

Big Red Jak Low Carb Energy Drink Review: Kick
Well it was nice to see that there were major improvements in the taste category, but will those improvements carry through and help Red Jak in the Kick Category? Well the energy ingredient list now contains 164 milligrams of caffeine, around 2000 milligrams of taurine, 200 milligrams of Panax Ginseng Root Extract and a plethora of B-Vitamins. This now puts Red Jak on par with the Monster Energy Drinks. The kick is quicker acting than the original and longer lasting. The fact that it is Sugar Free (contains Sucralose) also helps out as there is no longer any crash associated with the burst of energy. So yes the reformulation again paid off in the kick category. Kick Rating - 8.8

Big Red Jak Low Carb Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
I like that Red Jak put time and effort into creating a better product, especially since the results were so pleasing. There are numerous energy drink companies out there that could care less about reformulating the product, I am glad Red Jak is not one of those. Also the fact that they kept the low carb version so tasty is a plus. Combine that with a $1.50 price tag and you know have a really good beverage. If you tried this one before and didn't like it, give it a second chance. Final Judgment - 8.8

XO2 Original Still (Mix Fruit Flavor) Energy Drink Review

Cost:$1.69 - $1.99
Cost Per Ounce:$0.28 - $0.33
Active Ingredients:Caffeine, Taurine, B6, Carbs
Taste Rating:8.9
Kick Rating:8.9
Final Judgment Rating:9.0
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

XO2 Original Still (Mix Fruit Flavor) Drink Review
Well this will be the second energy drink review I have done on the XO Energy Drink, the first being the XO Citrus Energy Drink. Well the review today will be on the original XO2 Energy Drink. I probably should have done this one first, but it is a little late now. Either way, this is the second of seven total reviews. A little background in case you have not read the first review. This drink comes in a 180 milliliter (6 ounce) plastic bottle that is fully resealable. The XO energy drink seems to have a crossover appeal as it would work for athletes, business persons or basically any one on the go as the drink can be consumed warm. Enough fluff and onto the review.

Official Site: XO Energy Drinks

XO2 Original Still (Mix Fruit Flavor) Energy Drink Review: Taste
To be honest the taste on this XO energy drink was really hard to pinpoint. It seems like the beverage had a citrus or mixed fruit flavor with a hint of vanilla. Even though the taste was hard to pinpoint the result was not. The taste was extremely smooth and it only took me about 3 gulps to finish the whole thing. No carbonation and drinking this at room temperature made this possible. Besides the smooth taste the convenience factor of this drink was perfect for my morning workout. I usually have an energy drink each morning before a workout. Well today I was running late and forgot to put one in the fridge the night before. Solution, grabbed the original XO Energy Drink. Taste Rating - 8.9

XO2 Original Still (Mix Fruit Flavor) Energy Drink Review: Kick
Well the taste was very smooth, but how was the kick? Pretty much the same way - smooth and quick. All seven drinks have the same energy ingredients (making the kick really easy to judge!). The quick kick comes from a unique blend of energy ingredients including; 47 milligrams of caffeine, 800 milligrams of taurine, 2mg of B6 and 26 grams of carbohydrates. The carbohydrates give the beverage 110 calories. However, these carbs also give you a substantial amount of energy making these calories extremely easy (at least for me) to burn at the gym. Besides, carbs are one of the most efficient sources of energy. And they are not going to make you crash. Kick Rating - 8.9 (which is pretty good for a little 6 ounce shot)

XO2 Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
If all the XO beverages are of the same quality as the first two I reviewed I will be extremely pleased. They have both been smooth, convenient and have provided a pretty good kick. You can pick one of these up for $1.69 to $1.99 which is not a bad deal considering the convenience factor. Final Judgment 9.0 (with a little extra for the convenience factor)

essn Energy Drink Review

Energy Drink Ratings Explained

essn Energy Drink Review
Well this would be my first Organic Energy Drink that I have reviewed in quite some time. The last one I reviewed was the Steaz Energy Drink. I definitely applaud the idea of a healthy organic energy drink, it just has to pass my criteria of tasting good and giving a good kick. If the essn Energy Drink can do those two things than I will be happy. Besides, who wouldn't want a healthy alternative to the normal sugar induced energy drinks, especially if the produce the same or better results. So let's see how the Organic essn Energy Drink performs in the taste and kick categories.

essn Energy Drink Review: Taste
Before I get into taste I want to say that the essn 12 ounce slim can proudly displays the word "Organic." What does this mean? This means that there are no preservatives and no other ingredients that you can't pronounce in this drink. Also, instead of sugar or sugar substitutes, essn uses organic cane sugar. Doing all this gives you a much healthier energy drink than the normal mass market ones. Why did I tell you all this organic info? Well first off it is healthier as I stated above and second, when I hear the words organic I usually cringe when it comes to tasting that product. However, fortunately for me essn Energy has quite a unique tasting drink. The description on the can is "Pomegranate Lime Flower." So what does this taste like? Well it tastes like a berry flavored green tea with a hint of lime. Yeah, an unusual combination but the result is quite refreshing. Taste Rating 8.7

essn Energy Drink Review: Kick
Well a refreshing and unique kick, but will the organic energy ingredients provide enough of a kick to satisfy me? Well the list of energy ingredients includes 240 milligrams of Guarana Extract (organic), 360 milligrams of Brazilian Yerba Mate and a plethora of B-Vitamins. So the kick was actually pretty fast acting and lasted a relatively long time (3 hours). On top of this essn energy also contains EGCG, which studies have shown can reduce the risk of four of the major health problems: stroke, heart failure, cancer and diabetes. So you get a solid kick with no jitters, no sugary crash all while fighting some major health concerns. Checks out in my book. Kick Rating - 9.0

essn Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
Unique taste, all organic, contains EGCG and supplies a healthy kick. What else could I like about this drink? Well the fact that the price is $1.99. A lot of "organic" products jack up the price because they like taking advantage of all the health nuts. They have the motto "it's good for you therefore you should have to pay us more for it." Well I hate that, why should I have to pay more to live a healthier life? Enough with the rant! Thanks essn for keeping the price on par with the competition. Final Judgment - 8.9

Side Note: I would love to see more organic energy beverages from essn but this is the only one at present time. However, if you enjoy organic drinks, essn also offers a line of non-energy juices.

Who's Your Daddy Sugar Free Energy Drink Review

Who's Your Daddy Sugar Free Energy Drink

Cost Per Ounce:$.09 to $.012
Active Ingredients:Caffeine, Taurine, B-Vitamins
Taste Rating:9.0

Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Who's Your Daddy Sugar Free Energy Drink Review
Well it has been almost a year since I tried the original Who's Your Daddy Energy Drink. Today I am going to try the sugar free version of Who's Your Daddy. The original Who's Your Daddy received high marks in both the taste and kick categories, so I have high expectations for the sugar free version (even though I have tried 100 drinks since the original review). So enough fluff and onto the review of the 16 ounce Sugar Free Who's Your Daddy.

Official Site: Who's Your Daddy Energy Drink

Who's Your Daddy Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Taste
Well there is one noticeable difference between the original and sugar free. Who's Your Daddy Sugar Free Energy Drink has zero calories! So does this affect the taste at all? Well as I stated above, it has been almost a year since I reviewed the original, but too me it seems like the taste is still there. It still has that nice fruit punch sort of flavor with a hints of pineapple and cranberry. Quite unique actually. I think the only difference is that the sugar free fruit punch flavor is a little more crisp than that of the original. This might be from the use of artificial sweeteners (sucralose). However, there is still no real medicinal aftertaste at all which is a good thing as some sugar free drinks that use artificial sweeteners end up exposing the medicinal taste. Fortunately for WYDSF that is not the case. So in my opinion, the sugar free version taste just as good as the original. I just liked it more because it had zero calories. Now if it can provide the same kick as the original I will be very pleased. Taste Rating - 9.0

Who's Your Daddy Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Kick
Well the unique sugar free fruit punch, pineapple, cranberry flavor was on par with the original and the kick was as well. I don't know the exact caffeine for the sugar free version, but since the flavor is pretty much the same I am going to assume the caffeine and energy ingredients are the same as well. If I do that then we have about 200 milligrams of caffeine, 1600 milligrams of taurine and a bunch of b-vitamins (for a 16 ounce can). So yeah the original was pretty good and the sugar free WYD was on par with that. The only difference is that it seemed to take longer for the kick to take hold, which sometimes happens when you remove the sugar. No biggie, I would rather wait 10 minutes than inhale a bunch of sugar, but that's just me. Kick Rating - 9.3

Who's Your Daddy Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
By keeping the taste the same, while delivering a good kick and cutting the sugar, Who's Your Daddy has a pretty Sugar Free Energy Drink on their hands. No complaints from me! Final Judgment - 9.2

Burn 16 Ounce Sugar Free Energy Drink Review

Burn Energy Drink - Sugar Free
Cost: $2-$2.49
Cost Per Ounce:$0.13 - $0.16
Active Ingredients:Caffeine, Taurine, Guarana, Ginseng, B-Vitamins, EGCG
Taste Rating:8.5
Kick Rating:9.1
Final Judgment Rating:8.8
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Burn 16 Ounce Sugar Free Energy Drink Review
Well I have reviewed the original Burn Energy Drink and I have even reviewed the Sugar Free Burn Energy Drink. So why am I reviewing the sugar free version again? Well there has been a couple changes. The taste was slightly reformulated and the energy ingredients were beefed up. There is now more caffeine and ECCG which are supposed to help you burn more calories. Sugar Free Burn also adds potassium (form of electrolyte) and calcium. Combine that with a the zero sugar factor and you have an energy drink that would be a great asset to your workout regime. So let's see if the Source Beverages improvements paid off!

Burn 16 Ounce Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Taste
First off the taste was slightly reformulated from the old sugar free version. The old version had a citrus taste with a slight medicinal aftertaste. The new formula still has the citrus taste but the medicinal aftertaste is gone. However, the added EGCG from the Green Tea Extract, is noticeable. There is nothing wrong with this as the tea flavor makes the drink slightly more refreshing than before. Besides the added benefits of ECGC are also very nice. Overall I would have to say the slight reformulation definitely paid off. The old sugar free got a taste rating of 7.2. The new reformulated 16 ounce Sugar Free Burn Energy Drink gets a Taste Rating of 8.5.

Burn 16 Ounce Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Kick
Well the reformulation improved the taste, but will it improve the kick? Well as I stated in the intro, the energy ingredient list was beefed up. The 16 ounce version now contains 199 milligrams of caffeine, 2000 milligrams of taurine, 200 milligrams of Guarana Extract, 200 milligrams of Panax Ginseng and 100 milligrams of EGCG and plenty of B-vitamins. Quite an impressive list that delivers a much better kick than the old sugar free version. The drink maybe twice the size but the added ingredients helped in delivering a stronger quicker kick than the original sugar free version. The fact that it is sugar free also means no "sugar crash" an hour after you are finished drinking it! Kick Rating - 9.1

Burn 16 Ounce Sugar Free Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
The taste and kick were both improved. It's nice to know that Source cared enough to take feedback from consumers and make a better tasting and healthier drink. Don't forget about the added calcium. An overload of caffeine has been known to inhibit your calcium intake, so adding calcium to the drink was a nice healthy touch. Kudos to Source for the improvements.

Vim & Vigor Sugar Free Berry Energy Drink Review

Sugar Free Berry Vim & Vigor Energy Drink
Cost: $2.00
Cost Per Ounce:$0.17
Active Ingredients:Caffeine, Taurine, B-Vitamins
Taste Rating:9.6
Kick Rating:8.0
Final Judgment Rating:9.2
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Vim & Vigor Sugar Free Berry Energy Drink Review
Well the last two Energy Drinks that I reviewed from Vim & Vigor (Berry and Citrus) were some of the Best Tasting Energy Drinks that I have ever tried. Which is not too bad considering I have tried about 175 different drinks to date. My only complaint was that they did not have a sugar free version of their drinks. Well, my request has been met with the all new Vim & Vigor Sugar Free Berry Energy Drink. If they can keep the same great taste I am going to be very pleased! So let's get on with the zero calories, sugar free 12 ounce review of this drink.

Vim & Vigor Sugar Free Berry Energy Drink Review: Taste
I was thinking two things after I initially twisted the top off of the glass bottle. One - thank you for introducing a sugar free version of your beverage, now I don't have to work out as hard tonight. 2 - I hope they don't screw up the flavor. After the first couple sips I was pleasantly surprised. I could not taste a single difference between the original and sugar free berry versions. None whatsoever. The sugar free version still blended raspberries and cranberries perfectly! Vim & Vigor have out done themselves on this one. Thanks for the great sugar free drink guys! Taste Rating - 9.6

Vim & Vigor Sugar Free Berry Energy Drink Review: Kick
Well the sugar free berry is just as good as the Original. It also looks like they kept the energy ingredients the same as the original as well. With B-Vitamins, Caffeine, Guarana and Ginseng this sugar free drink delivers a decent kick. Caffeine is down there on the list of ingredients but the combination of the above ingredients, including Guarana (natural caffeine) does make for a pretty decent kick, not over the top, but decent. Kick Rating - 8.0

Vim & Vigor Sugar Free Berry Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
After looking back at the original Vim & Vigor Berry drink, I can see that I have awarded exactly the same score as I gave the sugar free. However, I am going to give the sugar free version a slightly better final judgment rating because it is going to save me time at the gym tonight! If you can get your hands on one of these I highly recommend trying one. Final Judgment - 9.2

Bomba Black Currant Energy Drink Review

Bomba Black Currant Energy Drink
Cost:$1.89
Cost Per Ounce:$0.23
Active Ingredients:Caffeine, Taurine
Taste Rating:9.4
Kick Rating:7.4
Final Judgment Rating:8.6
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Bomba Black Currant Energy Drink Review
Well this beverage, Bomba Black Currant Energy Drink, is the fifth and final installment of the Bomba energy drink lineup. Previous reviews include; Bomba Original, Sugar Free, Berry, Ruby Orange all of which come in the unique 250 milliliter (8.4 ounce) grenade shaped glass or plastic bottle. Oh, they also offer a plastic grenade shaped 330 ml (12 ounce) bottle as well. Opening either of the bottles requires you to pull the top, kind of like pulling the pin on an actual grenade, which in turn lets out a burst of carbonation. Did I mention that they have been around since 1994, making them one of the oldest Energy Drinks on the market.

Bomba Black Currant Energy Drink Review: Taste
Well the flavor of the other 4 Bomba Energy Drinks was great, so I had high expectations for Black Currant. Did it measure up to my standards? Of course! Bomba Black Currant had a unique flavor that I was not quite sure of at first. I could tell there was a grape flavor in there, but there was something else blended in with the grape and sparkling water. Maybe cherry? I am not 100% sure on that, but either way it had a great taste and only 90 calories. No medicinal after taste whatsoever, a unique grape-cherry flavor and a sparkling water mix that is just plain refreshing. Taste Rating - 9.4

Bomba Black Currant Energy Drink Review: Kick
Well, the taste of all Bomba Drinks have met my expectations. Now the only down fall is that it only has 62.5 milligrams of caffeine and 75 milligrams of taurine (8.4 ounces), placing it along the same lines as a Red Bull. Now don't get me wrong, the kick was a great pick me up, there are just other drinks out there that are stronger. The 12 ounce version should pack a decent punch as there would be closer to 100 milligrams of caffeine in that one. However, if you like the kick from Red Bull, and you are not looking for an extreme hardcore energy drink, than any one of Bomba's refreshing drinks should do the trick for you. Kick Rating - 7.4

Bomba Black Currant Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
All I can continue to say is that I enjoyed all of Bomba's flavors. They combine unique flavors with sparkling water which end up giving you a refreshing and energetic kick. They have some unique packaging and are also working on increasing U.S distribution. My only complaint is that they need to make a bigger size than 12 ounces. The drink tastes good, making it easy to chug meaning it is easy to drink fast. A bigger size, say 16 ounces, would also allow for a bigger kick. Still can't complain too much, Bomba did the trick for me! Final Judgment - 8.6

Sugar Free Liquid Lightning Energy Drink Review

Sugar Free Liquid Lidghtning
Cost:$1.00
Cost Per Ounce:$0.12
Active Ingredients:Caffeine, Taurine, B-Vitamins
Taste Rating:8.5
Kick Rating:8.2
Final Judgment Rating:8.4
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Sugar Free Liquid Lightning Energy Drink Review
Well a couple months ago (May 07) I had the chance to review the regular Liquid Lightning Energy Drink. It had it's ups and downs with the best part being the cost ($1.00 each!). So when I saw a Sugar Free Liquid Lightning Energy Drink I thought I would give it a try. This 8.4 ounce energy drink was also only $1.00 and it only had 5 measly calories. Now we just have to figure out how the taste and kick are. So enough fluff and onto the review.

Sugar Free Liquid Lightning Energy Drink Review: Taste
Well the original Liquid Lightning had a distinct berry taste to it. Well the formula for the sugar free version, although slightly altered, still had that distinct berry aftertaste to it that was actually quite pleasant. However, since it was sugar free, (splenda/sucralose) it was actually a little sweeter than the original. This was not a bad thing at all, a little sweeter, but still not medicinal aftertaste. I liked it. Taste Rating - 8.5

Sugar Free Liquid Lightning Energy Drink Review: Kick
Well the kick category was not the best for the original, nor will it be for the sugar free version. The energy ingredients include caffeine (not sure how much, but it is probably similar to Red Bull), taurine and b-vitamins. So the kick was not over the top and would definitely not make my Strongest Energy Drinks list. However, if you look at the cost of only $1.00, you can buy two of these bad boys and the kick would actually be pretty good. However, since I am only rating one, I will give it a kick rating of 8.2.

Sugar Free Liquid Lightning Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
The Sugar Free Liquid Lightning Energy drink has a pretty good berry taste, no medicinal after taste and an average kick. What sets this drink over the top is the fact that you can pick one up for about $1.00. So for the "cheap factor" I will add a couple bonus points. Why am I adding bonus points for the cost? Well, it's my blog so I can. Final Judgment - 8.4

Wired Energy Drink Review

Wired (Original) Energy Drink
Cost: $2.00 - $48.00 (case shipped)
Cost Per Ounce:$0.13
Active Ingredients:Caffeine, Taurine, B-Vitamins
Taste Rating:8.0
Kick Rating:8.4
Final Judgment Rating:8.3
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Wired Energy Drink Review
Well I have reviewed quite a few Wired Energy Drinks over the last year or so. But I am finally going to review the Original Wired Energy Drink. That's right, the one that started them all. If you have not heard of Wired, feel free to check out the rest of my Wired Energy Drink Reviews. I have not reviewed all 16 or so flavors yet, but I have tried the majority of them. And what do I think of the Wired Lineup? Well some drinks I like more than others but they seem to have a drink for everyone. They have Red Bull Energy Drink type flavors, citrus flavors and they even offer some of the Strongest Energy Drinks on the market. So enough fluff, let's find out what the Original Wired Energy Drink tastes like.

Buy Wired Energy Drinks Here

Enter the Wired Crackdown Sweepstakes

Wired Energy Drink Review: Taste
Well this one seems to be another Redbull flavored drink. However, there is a vast improvement over the medicinal Red Bull flavor. That's right, the original Wired Energy Drink tastes like Redbull without the medicinal aftertaste. So if you are a fan of Redbull try out the 16 ounce original Wired, you get a better taste and twice the amount for the same price! Taste Rating - 8.0

Wired Energy Drink Review: Kick
Well it has a familiar taste, but how about the kick? Well the original energy formula consists of 94 milligrams of caffeine and a ton of B-Vitamins. So yeah, the kick is stronger than Red Bull, but it is not nearly as potent as Wired's strongest energy drink, Wired X505. Even though it is not as strong is still delivers a decent kick. Kick Rating - 8.4

Wired Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
Well the original Wired is a strong platform to build an energy drink lineup on. Don't get me wrong, I like the original flavor, but Wired has added so many flavors that I enjoy and increased the caffeine content on some of their other drinks which might have ended up skewing my review of the original. In all likelihood I probably should have reviewed the original first, it would have been more fair. Either way it is still a great drink and worth a try, especially if you are fond of Red Bull. Final Judgment - 8.3

XO Citrus Energy Drink Review

XO Citrus Energy Drink
Cost:$1.69 - $1.99
Cost Per Ounce:$0.28 - $0.33
Active Ingredients:Caffeine, Taurine, B6, Carbs
Taste Rating:8.8
Kick Rating:8.9
Final Judgment Rating:9.0
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

XO Citrus Energy Drink Review
Recently I came upon the XO Energy Drink. It comes in a 180 milliliter (6 ounce) plastic resealable bottle. The XO Citrus Energy Drink that I reviewed was in the 6 ounce plastic bottle. There is 110 calories in this 6 ounce drink, which sounds like a lot for the size but I will tell you later why those calories are not bad. Well who is the XO Drink marketed at? Well to tell you the truth it looks like they have somewhat of a crossover appeal ranging from students looking for that quick fix, athletes looking for a little enhancement and even business execs looking for that quick burst of energy. Well since the drink is not carbonated I am going to put it to the test in the gym. Onto the review of the XO Citrus Energy Drink!

Official Site: XO Energy Drinks

XO Citrus Energy Drink Review: Taste
As I stated above I am going to put this to the test in the gym. The test begins after a grueling 10 hour day at work and on the drive to the gym. It's a 15 minute drive to work and I want the energy when I get there. So I crack open the resealable bottle and take a swig. It says citrus on the bottle but I taste a hint of apple as well. Oh yeah, I drank it warm because I forgot to put it in the fridge at work...Oops. Regardless of drinking it warm I really enjoyed the citrus flavor with a pleasant apple aftertaste. No not medicinal aftertaste, apple! There was no medicinal aftertaste present even in the tiny 6 ounce bottle, which is actually quite surprising. The majority of smaller energy drinks or energy shots usually have a medicinal after taste. Fortunately for me, even warm I didn't have to experience that! Taste Rating 8.8

XO Citrus Energy Drink Review: Kick
Well the citrus / apple taste is pleasant but will it put up enough energy for me to survive the gym after a 10 hour work day? The easy answer is yes. Where did I get this quick acting burst of energy? Well the energy ingredients include 47 milligrams of caffeine, 800 milligrams of taurine, 2mg of B6 and 26 grams of carbohydrates. The carbohydrates is where the calories come into play. If you are looking for a low carb version they have a diet drink as well (stay tuned for that review). Why are carbs good? Well it is actually one of the most efficient sources of energy that your body can use and is great for exercise. Actually kept me going even after I was finished with my hour long workout. Kick Rating 8.9 (pretty good for a little 6 ounce shot!)

XO Citrus Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
Well it has a great taste, gives of plenty of energy and is not carbonated. The combination of all those factors caused me to add this to my repertoire of energy drinks to use before a workout. No there is not a lot of caffeine, but the carbs did the trick - and without the dehydrating effects of caffeine I might add. Final Judgment - 9.0 (extra points for the convenience factor)

Java Monster - Big Black Energy Drink Review

16 Ounce Java Monster - Big Black

Cost Per Ounce:$0.13
Active Ingredients:Caffeine, Taurine, Ginseng, B-Vitamins
Taste Rating:8.5
Kick Rating:8.6
Final Judgment Rating:8.6
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Java Monster - Big Black Energy Drink Review
Well it looks ike the full line of coffee flavored Java Monster energy drinks have been out for about the last month or so and they are pretty much available everywhere. I have been hesitant to pick one up as usually I am not a fan of the coffee flavored energy drink. However, being curious and having reviewed all the Monster Energy Drinks I figured I would give Java Monster a try. I just can't believe how long it took one of the major "energy" players to get involved in the coffee game as it is just such a huge potential market. Anyways, the first coffee flavored Monster I slated for review is going to be Java Monster - Big Black. Why that one? There is really no rhyme or reason to it, besides my other choices where Mean Bean and Moca Loca, all sounding dark. So enough fluff and onto the review of this 16 ounce coffee flavored energy drink.

Update: You can now buy this in bulk Here

Java Monster - Big Black Energy Drink Review: Taste
So I opened the can expecting to see an extremely dark color, to my surprise it was way lighter than regular coffee. It actually looked more like chocolate milk than coffee. After my first couple sips I was expecting a dark black coffee taste but it was nowhere to be found. Instead I got a somewhat sweet taste, like a coffee with quite a bit of cream and a bunch of sugar. However, the coffee taste is still prevalant it just seems that it was manufactured to appeal to a larger market of coffee drinkers. Heck not everybody likes there coffee black, I know I don't. That is why I actually enjoyed the taste of this Big Black Java Monster. For me not being a big fan of coffee, I sure enjoyed this beverage. Taste Rating - 8.5

Java Monster - Big Black Energy Drink Review: Kick
We have established the light coffee taste, now done to the all important kick factor. Well Big Black uses an energy blend which I believe is similar to their regular lineup. I believe in a 16 ounce can there is 140 milligrams of caffeine (I could be off on my calculation of this), 2000 milligrams of taurine, 400 milligrams of Panax Ginseng and a decent helping of b-vitamins. Now on the can it states "half the caffeine of regular coffee, twice the buzz." Not sure how that works because I thought a cup of coffee had around 80 milligrams of caffeine and since Big Black has about 140 milligrams of caffeine, that would put it at about 2 cups? Whatever, the kick from the caffeine and energy blend was not too shabby. Not over the top like some of the Strongest Energy Drinks out there, but nothing to complain about. It definitely got me pumped up during my morning commute to work. Kick Rating - 8.6

Java Monster - Big Black Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
As I stated above, I am not a huge coffee fanatic, but I did enjoy this beverage. Combine the mass appeal with a pretty decent price tag of $1.99 (16 ounces) the availability (it's everywhere) and the decent kick and you have a pretty good energy drink on your hands. I guess this means I am going to have to try the other two flavors as well, Mean Bean and Moca Loca. My only quip with this drink seems to be that I have not seen it in bulk anywhere. It would be nice if people had the option of buying this in bulk to save a couple bucks. Final Judgment - 8.6

Swing Juice Orange Mango Energy Drink Review

Swing Juice Energy Drink - Orange Mango
Cost: $2.00
Cost Per Ounce:$0.13
Active Ingredients:Caffeine, Taurine, B-Vitamins, Ginseng, Gingko Biloba
Taste Rating:8.6
Kick Rating:7.5
Final Judgment Rating:8.1
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Swing Juice Orange Mango Energy Drink Review
Well at the end of last month I reviewed the Swing Juice Lemonade flavor and found out it is great for a golf pick me up (no crap, that's what it is made for). Well I am about to go golfing after work and I needed a little pick me up without the jitters and caffeine shakes so I turned to the last Swing Juice that I had, Orange Mango. Let's see how Orange Mango tastes as the previous ones I have reviewed Pink Lemonade, Fruit Punch and the fore mentioned Swing Juice Lemonade all tasted good but were similar to Gatorade flavors.

Swing Juice Orange Mango Energy Drink Review: Taste
Well Swing Juice Orange Mango energy drink has a unique and well received (at least by this guy) taste. The mango and orange mix quite well, but it does seem slightly watered down, along the lines of a Gatorade. This is not a bad thing as the taste is really refreshing and hydrating. Besides Swing Juice never promised the sweetest tasting energy drinks, they promised a hybrid energy drink and they definitely delivered on this in the taste category. Taste Rating - 8.6

Swing Juice Orange Mango Energy Drink Review: Kick
I have mentioned this before with Swing Juice (3 other times to be exact), but this drink does not have a huge kick, nor was it meant to. It was meant to give you a boost of energy and concentration while out on the golf course. Besides the last thing you want on a golf course is 500 milligrams of caffeine giving you the shakes and making you miss that all important put for double bogey! Swing Juice has 50 milligrams of caffeine, combined with Taurine, B-Vitamins and Ginseng in a 16 ounce bottle. Plenty to get the job done on the golf course! Kick Rating 7.5

Swing Juice Orange Mango Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
Get's the job done for a round of golf. Has a great taste and provides an ample yet stable kick. All of the flavors I reviewed were very refreshing and for $2.00 it will help your game a lot more than that $3.00 beer. Final Judgment - 8.1

Buzz Green Tea Energy Drink Review

Beaver Buzz Green Tea
Cost:$2.99 - $3.29 (Canadian)
Cost Per Ounce:$0.19-$0.21
Active Ingredients: Caffeine, Guarana, Taurine, B-Vitamins
Taste Rating:8.8
Kick Rating:9.0
Final Judgment Rating:8.9
Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Buzz Green Tea Energy Drink Review
Well today I will be reviewing the last of the Beaver Buzz Energy Drinks from Canada. I have reviewed the Big Buzz, Saskatoon Berry and Citrus versions. The last one that I will do is the Buzz Green Tea Review. I am not sure what to expect as so far it has been hit and miss with the Beaver Buzz lineup. I do know that they have several different sizes including the 355 milliliter (12 ounces) along with an 8.4 ounce (250ml) and 16 ounce (473 ml) version. So let's give them one more chance, eh!

Buzz Green Tea Energy Drink Review: Taste
Well it's supposed to be a Green Tea energy drink and gosh darn it, that is exactly what it is. They seemed to have hit this one right on the spot. Now I have said before that I am not a big tea fan but drinks such as the Bazza High Energy Raspberry Tea have definitely changed my mind. Tea energy drinks offer a great relaxing and refreshing taste and yes Buzz Green Tea also delivered this as well. Taste Rating - 8.8

Buzz Green Tea Energy Drink Review: Kick
Well it was refreshing and tasted like Green Tea (no sh**t) but does it deliver the kick you need? Well with 1022 milligrams of taurine, 119 milligrams of caffeine, 102 milligrams of Guarana seed extract (natural caffeine), Ginseng and a bunch of B-Vitamins all packed into 12 ounces it definitely delivers the kick you need. The kick was quick and lasted quite awhile and did not give me any sugary crash afterwards. Heck the 16 ounce version of this bad boy would probably make it into my top 10. Kick Rating - 9.0

Buzz Green Tea Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
Great green tea taste with a "dam good" kick to boot. Those Canadians sure know how to make a decent green tea energy drink, eh! Not much else to say about this refreshing beverage. Just wish you could get this one in the U.S. If any of you readers happen to see these available in the U.S let the rest of us know where. I know I would pick some up. Final Judgment - 8.9

Unbound Energy Juice Review
Well this will be the third and final installment (unless they come out with another flavor) of the Unbound Energy Drink Lineup. Today's review (in case you have not figured it out from the title yet) will be the 16 ounce Unbound Energy Juice. The suggested retail of this drink is $2.00, which seems to be the average price for a 16 ounce Energy Drink. The Unbound lineup, including Unbound Energy Juice are distributed nationally at BP and AMPM convenience stores / gas stations. If you see them anywhere else feel free to let the rest of the readers know.

Unbound Energy Juice Review: Taste
Well since this is an energy juice I figured I would have it with my breakfast. Now I have had energy juice's before, some have been great like the Rumba Energy Juice while others have been lackluster (no need to point fingers). So at first I was not sure what I was going to get from Unbound, but after the first sip I was quite pleased. The flavoring was somewhat of a passion fruit with a hint of fruit punch. After checking the ingredient label I did not see fruit punch listed anywhere; however, I did see passion fruit along with pear, apple and pinneapple. Regardless of not seeing fruit punch on the lable I am sticking to my gut instict, the taste was passion fruit with a hint of fruit punch. It was good, real good. Taste Rating - 9.3

Unbound Energy Juice Review: Kick
Now the taste was great, but one of the most important things I am personally looking for in a morning energy drink is some kick. And again Unbound delivers with an energy blend that consists of 160 milligrams of caffeine, 2000 milligrams of taurine, Ginseng extract and a nice healthy serving of B-Vitamins. So it did deliver the kick I was looking for in the morning to get me going. Again I like! Kick Rating - 8.7

Unbound Energy Juice Review: Final Judgment
The taste and kick were great. The only complaint I had about Unbound Energy Juice is that I would also like a low calorie / carb version as well. I like breakfast but I don't need the extra 220 calories (full 16 ounce serving) in the morning. However, I would not limit this to just breakfast. This energy juice would make an excellent mixer (just don't over do it). Final Judgment - 9.0

Energy Drink Ratings Explained

Radioactive Energy Drink Review
Well early last month I got a chance to try the Sugar Free Radioactive Energy Drink and I have to say I was quite pleased with the results so I am going to do a review of the Original Version today. Radioactive Energy comes in a 10.5 cans that sell for about $1.39 to $1.69 or 16 ounce cans that sell from $1.70 to $.229 depending on retail outlet. The Radioactive can also glows in the dark, which might seem like a novelty act to entice, but I would have to say it is a pretty cool effect and in my not-so humble opinion would make for a great party drink. Enough said, onto the review.

Radioactive Energy Drink Review: Taste
Alright it's a cool can and I enjoyed the sugar free version, but how does the original stack up in the taste test? Well for starters it is really sweet. Top that off with a citrus taste and the drink is not too bad. However, it is really sweet for my liking. However, if you like really sweet drinks like Rockstar Energy you should be fan of this one as well. As for me, I think I will stick to the Sugar Free version. Taste Rating - 8.4

Radioactive Energy Drink Review: Kick
Well it's a little sweet for me but the kick definitely made up for it. The Radioactive Energy Drink 16 ounce version comes packed with 200 milligrams of guarana extract (which is natural caffeine) along with a party of B-Vitamins, Ginseng and 2000 milligrams of taurine to top it off. So the kick had nuclear proportions. The sugar gave me the quick energy effect that lasted a couple hours; however, the sugar then gave me a slight crash. Nothing harsh, but I could tell. So again my preference would be the sugar free Radioactive as it does not give you the slight crashing effect. Kick Rating - 9.1

Radioactive Energy Drink Review: Final Judgment
Overall a good drink. A little to sweet for me but it still did the job. If you like sugar and sweet drinks that this is the drink for you. I think I will go the sugar free route from now on. Heck, I still get the good taste, great kick and glow in the dark can with a lot less calories. Final Judgment - 8.9
